E. E. Cummings: Complete Poems, 1904–1962

I already have the other complete works of ee Cummings but this cover drew me in...I had to have it. It does weigh a ton but it is worth the struggle to read it. I was first introduced to the poetry of Cummings back in '63 during my first year of college. I fell in love twice...once with his amazing poetry...and again when I met my future husband. I read Cummings to him but he was not into poetry. I selected my favorite poem at the time "if everything happens that can't be done" and read it over and over to him. He finally got it. We have been married for over 59 years. I still love both of them and I still read Cummings to him though I speak a little louder since he is hard of hearing. To all the naysayers...before you bought this wonderful book you could have googled his name and gone to a Wiki page to learn about his volume of work. Life was far different back then and yet it is still the same. If reading his work offends you then you did not do your homework before spending your money. Two thumbs up for this literary genius. A day reading Cummings and Lagston Hughes is a day well spent.

I gave this as a birthday gift to the Piet in my life and he was thrilled. Thorough, beautiful collectors item at a reasonable price.

Item was sold as damaged, but was received in excellent condition, wdll-packaged and received sooner than expected. Highly recommended!

My Thoughts:This is kind of a book review, but not completely a book review. This is more along the lines of a couple paragraphs of me going off on the experience of reading every poem by the wonderful E.E. Cummings over all of 2012. That’s right. I read every E.E. Cummings poem in a year. I am quite proud of this.I had read a few handfuls of E.E. Cummings poems before buying this book but I knew I was going to love it. And I wasn’t wrong. I was completely right. I LOVED THESE POEMS. I started marking the page every time I found a poem I wanted to reread again and again. I ended up marking 52 altogether. There’s just something about his poetry that draws me in and captivates me.It’s hard to explain completely how much you can take away from poetry when you read it. I can see how certain poems or poets can be hard to read, but when you find one that is enjoyable it is truly a great experience. E.E. Cummings is that poet to me.My Rating: Exceptional

Love it! Just what I wanted!

This is a thick, heavy book with a paper cover/sleeve and it was shipped loose in a box where it was able to bang around and damage the sleeve. Any kind of padding would have saved it.

Bought as a present for a friend of mine, never expected a book so completed.

my favorite poet, and this was outstanding. ee is not simply gimmicky, he offers and inspires at many approaches to poetry.
