Seems nice for the price
I didn't want to spend alot of money on a seat that my 2 year old would use for a short time before outgrowing it so I picked this one up. She hasn't ridden in it yet but she sits in it on the floor all the time. I can tell she's close to the size limit, if not for safety, at least for comfort (she's 34 inches tall and 30lbs) As far as installation: I have a Trek Navigator that the rack installed fairly easily on. The frame has two holes that are just the right size for the screws provided. I had to removed the rear wheel and put the screw in the reverse way to get clearance but that was explained in the manual. The manual doesn't list specific bikes it will work on but it does explain what to do if your bike isn't like the one pictured. It comes with various sized ring "clamps" to help it fit most bicycles. I hooked the top extenders on each side of my seat post. The seat is difficult to mount on the rack (but I only did it once). You just set it on the rack and slide it forward but the front latch is too high to slide under the rack front easily. I thought I had a bad seat but I guess not. I got it on there. Removal is easy. The book says to press the front latch down, slide the seat back a little and then lift the rear latch. Removed easily for me.As far as sturdiness- the plastic does flex some, but I don't think it is a safety issue. My daughter can pull the bar off too but only when it is not latched in. When latched it is very secure. Overall I think it's a good seat. Now I just have to help my daughter get over her anxiety of it so we can have fun.

The boy likes to ride!
The Good: The harness will definitely keep your child safely in place. This seat will allow you to safely ride with your child.THe Bad: First of all the seat (mine anyway) does not come off without a wrestling match. I doubt the wife could take it off. Maybe as it is taken on/off over time it will not be sooo tight?Second, the blackburn rack that comes with this unit costs $50+, so plan for it if you think you might want the ability to move it between bikes. My wife was initially too scared to ride with the boy on the back, but now wishes we had a rack on her bike so she could take him out without me. I let her try to take the rack off...and she said no thanks to a 2nd rack anyway.Third, kind of a small thing, but there are velcro straps to keep the feet safely in the seat. The velcro straps are mounted so low that the strap wraps around the toe portion of his shoe. He seems to find this uncomfortable and can work his feet free. A simple solution would have been to mount the straps up a couple of inches so that the strap limits the lower leg from getting out but still allowing for free foot movement.

Great child seat! Incredible comfort!!! I wish it had more room for my child.
I was a little skeptic on this seat, not because of safety reasons (it comes with more than enough designed measures to keep the seat tightly attached to the bike), not because of size either -although my seat rests about 10 inches from my childs face when riding-. I was concerned about comfort and that my child (she's 2 years old) could ride comfortably during long rides. I've been riding with my child in her seat for about two weeks, in about 2km/5km rides every time. She even rides singing and admiring the scenery. Yesterday she even took a nap when riding... and we arrived home with her snoring!!! So... yes, it's a confortable seat.If I could ask for something, it would be more face-room for her, but I guess my bike is not long enough. Leg room could also be improved, since my feet get too close to her toes, and sometimes both of my heels brush her toes when pedaling. I keep feeling my bike is short in dimensions.

she loves it
The rack was a little tough to install because of the configuration of the rear sprocket on my bike but once I got it on the rack is light and sturdy, useful for other things as well. As far as the seat goes it is light, well balanced, easy to get on and off the bike, oh yeah and my two year old loves it. She was a little scared at first but as soon as we were moving she started to giggle and tell everyone we passed that she was riding on the back of Daddy's bike. Very good vaue for the price!

Great Product
Purchased to take my daughter for rides at the beach and back home. It came with a Blackburn rack that had to be installed. I have a GT mountain bike and the rack install took a little longer then expected. I ended up having to use different screws as the provided one were garbage and stripped very easily. Surprised that a good quality rack would use such cheap components, especially when installing something that will be holding a child. The seat itself comes assembled as one piece and works great. It slides off and onto the rack with ease and it held securely in place. Had my daughter in it at 14 months and she loved it. She is now 2 and still fits comfortably.

Great seat, can't beat the price
We are very happy with this seat. Installation of the rack and seat were simple on my Specialized HRXC and after a few rides I can't think of a complaint. The foot straps are a little low, but it is very easy to place them on top of your childs foot for a secure ride. Based on other reviews, we might have gotten lucky with our release lever. Its easy to press and the seat is off within seconds.I recommend this seat for both short and long rides, my son would ride for hours if we would let him.

Returned my returned seat!
First...arrival: the seat had obviously been returned before. The box was kindof beat up with a lot of old tape. There was no owners manual. I found it online though.Second...installation: it was very, very, very difficult to install. I had to take the back tire off to get the screw in backwards. Then I could not get the seat onto the bike rack with all my strength. My husband got it but bent the metal trying to get it in. This is bad because I wanted to be able to remove the seat sometimes!Third...use: my 22 lb, 30.5 inch tall 9 month old fits wonderfully with room to grow, BUT, the seat really throws off the balance. I feel wobbly if I'm going very slowly and it is hard to start and stop.Therefore...I'm returning it and opting for the WeeRide Kangaroo bike seat, which sits infront and shouldn't throw the balance off so much.

As safe as houses
A great seat, easy to use and thoroughly enjoyed by my son...who looks forward to being a "co-pilot" on bicycle rides. He is so comfortable he rarely wants to get out, and yes the foot straps do protect you form being kicked. Great design, easy to fit, easy to take on and off and the co-pilot sign on the back is moderately amusing.
