Pleasantly Surprised
Whenever a popular IP is adapted into a movie, we tend to see a diluted taste of the source material. This movie does a great job at avoiding that; they change the story minimally while still paying homage/following the general storyline of the video games. What I especially enjoyed is the horror elements and the actors. I was craving more of Leon and loved the movie’s take on emphasizing his “rookie” title through his lax personality. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked Jill’s actress, who performed the role so well and made Jill display the perfect balance of raw toughness & emotional empathetic. The performance of Wesker was great and I also really enjoyed the actress who played Claire, who felt like she was pulled right from the game. I am hoping for a sequel because I want to see Ada Wong and especially Rebecca Chambers, who I was disappointed didn’t even get a mention. I would definitely recommend this movie for any RE fan or anyone who enjoys a good, fun horror movie.

The Internet is Dead Wrong 50% of the time
RE Welcome to Raccoon City is very impressive on so many levelsThis film is in the George A. Romero RE timelineMany elements were taken from Romero's script adding more grounded real world logic with countless Easter eggs from the History/GamesThe result is very good some of the GCI looks rushed/cheap but, almost all the infected citizens/Zombies look really good!Lots of unique little details classic body horror elementsUmbrella is spot on and built up the proper way!Cast seem to actually be doing there best,if there was a Director's Cut submitted to the MPAA Hopefully it see the light of day at some point and time The pace is very smooth wish it was longer thoughThe score is awesomePurest might have problems with some of the story narrative being changed up (Taking two major stories mashing them up)But, these same critics will gush over RE7 & RE VillageThe fact this film was buried online from the jump is actually heartbreaking it should've been a hit/Horror Hit!It's actually a real legit live action RE Film that doesn't insult your intelligenceIt's also a love letter to the fans, George A. Romero and low budget Italian Horror of the 80'sI dig this film so much I bought both 4k Editions (Original UHD & The BB Steelbook)

Okay, so I hope I don't get too wordy
1) This actually follows the games. RE1+2 in one movie, it's pretty dope. There's of course the iconic scene from RE1 when they come across the first zombie and it looks back. It's nothing like those abominations that came out a while back (to be fair, if those movies were named something else, they'd be pretty cool).2) The acting seems kinda hammy or overdone in some cases, but you're not likely getting A-listers on this project. Regardless, the cast was well selected as the actors played their characters very well. I bet there are gonna be some nutjobs in here saying that Jill is white in the games, so she should be white in this movie. Well, much to everyone's surprise, she was just fine and her skin color didn't factor into anything at all the entire movie (spoiler alert: no one was surprised).3) There is a ton of fan service in this but a few creative liberties as well. I know I talked about this in point 1, but it's worth making it separate I guess. So, in RE2 Leon is just arriving to Racoon City when the poo hits the fan; that's how Leon meets Claire. This is not a spoiler but is a movie detail: Leon is already in the RPD when the movie picks up, so there's some "cheeky banter" between him and the other characters about this. There is also some interesting backstory to the Redfields that I don't remember coming across in any game I've played, but admittedly I didn't play Code Veronica so it may have been there? Also, Claire's arrival to the city is not what you'll remember. The movie uses the change to establish some plot points though. It could be worse, she could have psychic powers or be controlled by a satellite.4) The Birkins were a great call-back to Claire B in RE2. The daughter doesn't play as big of a role in Claire's segments of the movie though, like in RE2. I guess this could have been in point 3. Whatever.5) The movie is a bit dark, as in literally dark so you may need to adjust the brightness to see a little better.
