Superior to Lab Series, This IS THE BEST Pre-Shave Option Anywhere, PERIOD.
Determined to solve the "Pre-Electric Shave Additive Riddle" I secured a bottle of each of the following still-in-production products and set about scientifically testing each one:Speick was BY FAR the BEST of the bunch, delivering the closest shave along with zero greasiness and zero undesirable scent.Speick Pre Electric Shave LotionLectric Shave Electric Razor Pre-Shave OriginalLab Series Electric Shave SolutionWith the exception of Lectric Shave, ALL of the tested products cost about the same $20-22(USD) SHIPPED, and NONE of the tested products readily available at US retailers outside of Amazon.I tried each product exclusively for a 2 week period, using them two ways to make sure and not overlook anything.Shaving was always conducted first thing in the AM immediately after waking.Method A: Without washing face beforehand (as per directions, generally)Method B: After Washing Face with Exfoliating Scrub (gritty, marketed as being useful for preparing skin for the rigors of shaving)RESULTSSpeick works the best, by far. It ensured a wet-razor-comparable shave every time, while not drying the skin or causing any irritation. On top of this superior efficacy this product SMELLS AMAZING, while not smelling strongly enough to interfere with other scents. It never gets in the way of my cologne, while at the same time it has easily become one of my favorite smells, and I genuinely look forward to using it on a daily basis. The fascinating pamphlet that comes packaged with the product explains that Speick has exclusive access/rights to the rare plant that provides the active ingredient in the product, and this uniqueness is readily apparent. There is something almost magical about the product that I have never experienced with anything else, it works far better than the usual alcohol/lubricant/fragrance formula utilized by the other products. On top of all this, Speick is ORGANIC and as result of Germany having much stricter standards with regards to what chemicals can be safely used, entirely devoid of toxic chemicals and colorants. The Lectric Shave works exceptionally well, with several serious drawbacks. It allows for an extremely close shave, (as close as with Speick), although it SMELLS OBVIOUSLY UNHEALTHY/REVOLTING. This on top of the fact that the manufacturer clearly states that it must be washed off immediately after shaving, and you need to wash it off of your hands after application. Not following the advice to wash hands after application will result in stripping of paints/lacquers/finishes from the shaver, something similar to what I noticed with the bottle the solution comes in, the label melted off after the first week of daily use. There is no telling what this does to your skin/body, especially if you screw around and don't wash it off after shaving. Washing the product off is basically a gut-level instinctual response to being in effect splashed with any blatantly offensive smelling toxic chemical, and anyone with any decency would never allow themselves to smell like this product. My biggest fear with this was that the smell would somehow "stick" after thoroughly washing my face, this fear being compounded significantly by my inability to wash the stuff off of my hands after application. IT LITERALLY WON'T COME OFF WITHOUT USING GOJO OR SIMILAR INDUSTRIAL HAND CLEANER, you can feel it there and smell it long after rinsing with normal bathroom soaps. By far the most scary of the products tested. The ONLY "plus" with this product would be the low price, if you don't think about the fact that the super low price all but guarantees the manufacturer is using the absolute cheapest and least pure/healthy ingredients.Lab Series Electric Shave SolutionThis product was the one that I had initially expected to win the contest, as Amazon feedback would have you believe that it is the World's Best pre-electric shave enhancing product. This is NOT the truth of the matter, and in fact Lectric Shave is actually far better at providing the close shave. Lab Series has the "advantage" of being the only non-scented product of the three, although it has a greasy chemical smell that I disliked intensely. Lab Series is essentially the same product as Lectric Shave with a less-complex chemical coloring involving only Green 6(CI61565), as opposed to Lectric's more sophisticated blend of Green 5, Yellow 10, and Orange 4 coloring, and at 5x the price. The listed ingredients are fancy [Cola Nitida (Kola) Nut Extract] although completely ineffective, they seem to be 100% marketing BS aimed at tricking you into thinking you're not being ripped off as badly. This was least effective of the three products at providing any enhanced closeness or improved shaving. This product was the 2nd most greasy product, rivaled only by Lectric. It is possible that Lab Series and Lectric are equally undesirably greasy, although determining this would require outside input from a 3rd party along with prolonged investigation. All testing was conducted with Braun 7 Series shaver cleaned after each shave with the Automated Braun Cleaning System. Cleaning System kept fresh with Genuine Braun Cleaning Solution, replaced as directed by cleaning system indicators. No cleaning solution sparing efforts or tricks were employed and I don't refill it with off-label refill solutions or industrial solvents/solvent blends as some users do.

No more electric razor rash
Looking for a product due to significant electric shaver rash. Tried this product. It was excellent. No rash since start of use.

Beats them All
I have tried the other 2 popular brands of pre-shave, and have been disappointed in them. This Speick pre-shalve does work quite a bit better, and I have been satisfied with it. It helps the razor to glide smoothly across my face, and still prepares the whiskers for cutting, so I'm getting a much closer shave; and, my shave time is shorter. The only down side of this product, and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is the high price! It is not competitive at all. I suppose there is a high tariff on it that is passed on to the customer.

Closer, Smoother, and Worth It: Speick Pre Electric Shave Review
Excellent! I tried the Speick Men Pre Electric Shave Lotion for the first time and was impressed. As a lifelong Lectric Shave customer, I wanted to try something new since I am getting older (greyer but wiser!). The other reviews on the Speick Pre Electric Shave were 4.5 stars. For me, the shave was closer and smoother than Lectric Shave, and it left my skin feeling softer. While the Lectric Shave is a great product at a great price, the Speick Pre Electric Shave is worth the extra money. I will be using this moving forward.

Is ok
I have tried various electric pre-shave options and here is my list from best to worst. You might have different results as it kind of depends on your skin type, which other online reviews don't take into account.Shaving was performed with a Braun Series 9 shaver, then a few months later with a Panasonic Arc 5 (ES-LV9Q). Shaves were performed either daily, or at 3-4 days growth. The Panasonic shaves closer with less irritation and heat build up in my experience. The pre-shaves I have tried out are as follows; Williams Lectric Shave, Aramis Lab Series, Mennen Afta, Freelette Pre/After Shave, Spieck, Remington Facesaver stick, and SuperShave ElectraSmooth oil.1. Williams Lectric shave: Liquid is pretty thin and drips all over the place, mainly on the container, need to wipe it off before putting it back. Smell is pleasant, not overpowering. It does a decent job of lubricating and preventing the foils form heating up. Can still feel some stubble along the back of jaw near ears afterwards. Would rate about a 3.5 out of 5.2. Aramis Lab Series; Liquid is thin, spreads easily, little to no scent. Lubrication is best of all the ones I have tried. Razor foils never heat up and allows the razor to shave really close. No stubble felt in the jaw/ear area. Would rate this about 4.5 out of 5 stars due to it being the most expensive, but bottle lasts long time anyway.3. Mennen Afta per shave; More of a lotion based compared to liquid like the previous two. Spreads easily, has a pleasant strong smell. I would say it is not as close as the Williams. Also, while shaving it gets thicker and causes razor to drag, heating up foils. Would give it about 2.5-3 stars.4. Freelette pre/after shave; This is a lotion based product. Has a very strong smell like soap. Only tried it once as the smell was way too strong. 2 Stars5. Spieck Pre-electric Shave; Clear liquid. Cap seals securely and doesn't drip/leak when pouring out. Has a pleasant scent (reminds me of Brut). Lubrication was about on par with the William Lectric shave. Foils got warm, and was a pretty close shave. 3.5 Stars6. Remington Facesaver stick; Talc powder based stick. It is messy, when you apply it goes on pretty thick and has a perfumey smell to it. When you start shaving talc fall everywhere. Foils heated up and got HOT using this product rather quickly. Closeness was about on par with the Williams and Spieck. Made a mess of the razor and cleaning station. Would rate a 1 of 5 stars.7. ElectraSmooth for Men; Oil based pre-shave. This was a pre-shave oil. Was about as thick as vegetable oil. Had a pleasant scent. Lubrication was pretty good, although the razor didn't move about as freely as with the Lab Series, and the foils got warm. Definitely have to take a shower afterwards with this one. Was a decent shave, but can see where it and the whiskers would accumulate in the cleaning station/razor since it is a thick oil. Rate it about 3 of 5 stars. There you go. I found the Lab Series to work the best for my skin/beard type (normal type for both). The Lab series is the highest price on the list, however provided the closest shave with least irritation. Also, a bottle lasts many months, so saving $5-10 over say 6-8 months and not dealing with razor burn is worth it to me.
