Paperback in B&W
I got the book on my kindle and read it and it has a lot of useful information, so I purchased the paperback. I want to be able to mark up and have the info at my fingertips. Something was wrong as I was skimming the pages and when I stopped, I realized all the images were in b&w. On my kindle they are all in color. This is so unbelievably frustrating to me. It is like it is a scanned copy of the original. See image

Not what I was looking for
I have no idea why this book is so expensive. I am an intermediate level gardener who has followed Square Foot Gardening for many years. I am looking to broaden my gardening horizons and acquire some knowledge in the companion planting world. I know there is plenty of information on the internet in this regard, but I like having books to reference. I want to learn more in depth about the whys and how’s of how different plants interact in the garden, but I am also a visual learner; I need drawings, charts, and lists in addition to information, which this book is without. The layout of this book really lacks appeal. I was hoping for a guide that I could not only sit down and read, but also have on hand as I drew up plans for my garden layout for the season. Not only that, but I didn’t find the information contained there in overly useful; it was droll and often cursory. I’m really disappointed and I won’t be keeping this book.

A must read for all gardeners
I do like Shepperd’s philosophy: broaden the selection of the plants we eat. Combine this with companion planting and the benefits for both humans and plants will compound. What a refreshing approach to gardening! He looks back at various cultures and how they planted (ex: three sister planting), and how we can apply this modern day. I also like the way he combines flowers and vegetables, showing the benefits to each. Shepperd even lists and describes beneficial bugs for the garden. Take time is another one of his commandments, for gardens do need time to mature over years.Really interesting and easy to read book with a viable theme: work with nature, not against it. HIGHLY recommend! It’s a good read.

Garden Dreams
Every spring I dream of a robust garden of flowers and edibles, and eating from my backyard according to the seasons has been my goal. Gardening is a vast subject, where to begin for a newbie is always difficult. The author has created an easy-to-follow comprehensive guide to companion planting in the organic garden. Stories of how ancient people planted are fascinating. The fact that companion gardening is mostly an unstudied field was astonishing; although it shouldn’t be a surprise considering the practices of commercial farming. This book has given me hope I can achieve my garden goals. I’m using this guide to plan companion plants for my tomatoes this year and I expect to venture further as my knowledge progresses.

outstanding information and writing
What a wonderful guide to gardening. The author changed my perspective on what companion planting really means - creating a harmonious garden with a wide variety of plants living together in peace. I will eschew planting everything in rows, all lonely and vulnerable to insects. I love cucumbers, but I neglected last year to provide something for them to climb up. I know I should have. Just lazy I guess. But this book gave me the suggestion to plant corn or sunflowers within the cucumbers. Great idea. The style is personable and relatable and the information is vast. I couldn't find the appendix, but it may be because I have trouble with kindle.

Excellent reference for plant enthusiasts and those who may need a little help
Learn the pillars of companion planting to successfully broaden the range of fresh foods available for you to enjoy. This book explains the value of matching different plants together in order for them all to thrive. The guide is easy to read and understand, even for someone just trying out their green thumb. Combine your flowers, vegetables, herbs, and fruits like a pro. The tips for ornamental gardens and orchards are great.

Well-formatted and easy to read
A very well-formatted and easy to read book with nice photographs. You don't have to be an experienced gardener to figure out what the book is about. Although the book is highly specialized, reading it creates a sense of peace.

Loved it
I waited a long time for a book like this. After watching a movie called The Biggest Little Farm, I have been obsessed with this subject. The author delves into this arena by explaining plant by plant, what grows well, even enhances the growth/development of another plant. Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.

Very informative and easy to understand .
I am not so much of a beginner when it comes to gardening, I am very happy with the crop production I manage to produce every year, and I got a lot of hints and tips for my gardening in general from the previous book from this author. This is why I downloaded Beginners Guide to Companion Planting as soon as it became available . I wanted to step it up another level and learn more about how plants can help eachother in their environment and how I could improve my soil using specific ones to boost my yield and I can’t wait to get my hands dirty in my garden. The book is very informative and easy to read, includes plenty of images and examples of good neighbouring plants and also some unexpected material on how to use companion plants in a structural way if you are also looking for a visual effects. It’s an absolutely wonderful book and I couldn’t recommend more .

What a gem of a find !
This is not my first Peter Shepperd’s book and I must say it was exactly what I expected and even more ! Couldn’t wait for the launch of his new book, I had previously read the Introduction to Raised bed gardening after becoming green fingered over the previous lockdown! Peter’s books are always a smooth read and are so clear and concise I can easily say that these are the best gardening books you will find. The cover is really beautiful and pleasing to the eyes too and there are plenty of colourful images to help you learn about the companion gardening method. I have been struggling a little bit with the usual annoying garden pests so I can’t wait to try some of the techniques in the book to save my fruit and vegetables ! 5 stars for Peter
