I'm completely sold on this style of saw.
I've used all kinds of saws, however, this is my first Japanese saw. There is a learning curve, mostly in getting rid of bad habits like using too much downward force but, within an hour, it was clear to me I would never go back to a traditional tenon saw. The saw never jams, the sawdust is almost as fine as pollen (less waste and mess) and it is far easier to get an accurate cut.I was expecting the saw to be a slow cutter, given the fineness of the teeth; however, I was very pleasantly surprised when it went through the wood like butter, both crosscut and rip. The saw never jams, which is more than I can say for the average traditional saw, owing to the fact the blade is slightly tapered and very thin. Despite its thinness, the saw is pretty robust although it would probably be instantly destroyed if it hit a nail. The blades are replaceable but currently, it's cheaper to buy a new saw.I will certainly be buying a few more Japanese saws in the future and recommend these saws to anybody that wants a truly accurate cut in less time and effort than a traditional tenon (back) saw.

Cuts straight and leaves a fine edge
So far i have made enough cuts for 2 dovetail boxes and 6 small butterfly keys and some of the teeth are damaged already. It hasnt been hit on hard surfaces or used on plywood or mdf. The saw still cuts well enough but it will need a replacement blade soon which are only available from a 3rd party seller with a greedy markup costing more than the original saw itself. The saw cross cuts beautifully but is slow on rip cuts due to the ultra fine teeth. The saw makes up for the slow cut with a very smooth kerf. I would still reccomend this saw as it is inexpensive and cuts very well, just be gently with the blade.
