Keep looking
The media could not be loaded. Waited a while to do this review, and even reached out to the seller before hand so as to give the most accurate review I could. At the time of buying this, it was advertised as also having parking functionality.... this has since been removed, and I speculate it had something to do with my email to the seller, but more on that later. The camera is small, easily concealed behind my 2016 Acadia's rear view mirror and wire tucked under the head liner and ran along side the OEM wiring. I ran it down the window pillar to the glove box where I installed a 12 volt outlet so nothing was visible (wiring wise) but turned on and off with ignition (relay required).I like the fact this has a base that stays wired while allowing you to remove the camera and bring it inside, where it's not a theft target hanging from the windshield. I would have preferred to have it monitor my parked car, but 1) that cable in not included and runs another $30+, dispute the advertising at time of sale. 2) this additional cable omits the need for the base power and means a "headphone" jack would need to be attached and detached each and every time you wanted to remove it. As it would monitor parking, i would assume you would not remove it often, but seems kinda pointless then to have a quick mount base at all.... kind of a catch 22 on this. The camera: Ok if you just want a fairly clear image of an accident or to prove you didn't run a red light, but nothing more. Plates as not able to be read in day or night, so forget about a hit and run I.D. Also forget about, my reason for having it, to prove you were not speeding to small town cops/judges. As you can see in the video, my HUD shows the same speed my dash speedo does, this product is displaying almost 2X the speed..... less than useless in court to prove innocence, no?As mentioned I did reach out to the seller on t both of these (wire for parking and speed). Here is the reply " Dear David,Thank you for choosing Arpenkin.1. Yes, this mini0801S has parking mode fuction via a 3 wires hardwire kit, but this kit don't include in the package, you need purchase it this link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3P03CD2. Yes, There are differences in GPS speed and car display speed, Because being used different calculation methods. GPS is using coordinates, but car display uses tire rotation number.Sorry for my poor English.Thank you!"Now, I see the advertisement changed not to reflect the parking feature is included, so while it doesn't help me, who though it was at time of sale, at-least it corrected. However, as someone who also has a GPS garmin and other GPS nav units, that all keep speed within a mile or 2 of my speedo and HUD, the explanation for this is weak and fairly insulting as a "techie" person. The auto tech side of me says the GPS SHOULD be more accurate than the human calibrated mechanical speedo on the car, and within a mile or 2 of a digital speedo. A difference in calculation methods I assume means "defective gear".My advice is to skip this, the poor quality video and additional cost for parking monitor lead me to believe that the total money spent here could be spent elsewhere to get a camera that can do all this can do and more, for cheaper that this with the "add-ons". Add to this view the inaccurate MPH (as shown in video with my HUD visible) and I feel confident in telling you to pass on this item as it is.Thanks for reading and hope it helped.

As Dependable as an Electric Clock!! Need I say more?
I find it hard to give out 5-stars for anything, but this little Dash Cam gets my vote. I purchased an older model several years ago and its never stopped working perfectly. (The battery has gone bad, but is seldom used because it hooked up to the 12 volts in my car at all times) I did have to replace a memory card because it finally wore out. Most people don't even know that they wear out.So, I purchased this new one, the Mini 0801S, which will never have the battery problem. They have replaced the battery with a little capacitor which will allow the unit to run for a short period of time and then properly shut down. This new one has a little higher resolution and also seems to work like a champ. I've have it installed for a couple of months and it just sets there in the car, quietly going about it's business!!I should caution people that it has a very small form factor and it is important to read the manual completely to learn EVERYTHING about it. But, why would I say something like that when everyone already knows this is Just The Truth.

Does the job. But...
Okay, if you're looking for a dashcam, this does a very good job overall specifically at that. The ultracap is a much better performer than a battery, and that's pretty fabulous. To grab footage from the camera, you just eject the card, take it to your computer's card reader, and there you go. But.Here's the problem: the power supply, or possibly the camera unit itself, generates ENORMOUS amounts of radio interference. If we want to listen to the radio, we have no choice but to turn the camera off. Which means for safety's sake, we can only listen when parked. So that changes what would otherwise be a 5-star product to a 3-star one that I'd be looking to replace with something from another manufacturer if I could possibly manage it.For the technically minded, the RF interference starts below the AM broadcast band at about 400 KHz, and extends up well past 17 MHz. If you enjoy AM broadcast radio or shortwave radio listening, I can promise you that this product will *not* make you happy.

Poor Video Day or Night
The media could not be loaded. I have had older versions of this dashcam that actually worked great. This one was to replace an older similar unit and was awful. Two units both had poor video day or night. Changing the HDR on/off did not help and white balance was always set to Auto/Normal modes. Daytime video in sunlight was totally washed out as seen in my video. Cloudy days did much better. But since I needed to trust this cam in all sunlight conditions I had to send it back.Night video showed tons of "stars" in headlights and blew out the surrounding area. Again very poor performance. On the good side the menu system is much better than older versions and I loved how the GPS set the clock/date stamp automatically.

Love it so far
I purchased this cam after three tries with battery powered units. All three died within 1 year of purchase due to battery failure. The Florida sun is a killer of lithium batteries. I purchased a replacement battery for one of the units and soldered it in place. That battery only lasted 6 months until it too died.I've heard good things about capacitor units being able to withstand heat better. So far so good with this unit. I'm very pleased with the operation and video quality of this unit.Like someone else posted: If this thing fails or starts to malfunction, I WILL BE BACK to let you know

Has potential...maybe....
Tried everything to get this little, potential gem, to work correctly. Firmware was updated, multiple micro SD cards were used and formatted...multiple times, camera was reset multiple times. I could not get this camera to function as it should. It would never consistently record my drives, would power on and off multiple times and most of the recording ended up being corrupt files; which were not readable. In the end, I will return this dash cam and beginning looking for its replacement. The one positive... it was a small and compact camera.
