Appear To Be a Great Value: OEM performance at Compatible price
January 22, 2018I'll start by stating that I have no easy way to verify the performance claims that the manufacturer makes for this filter. The only way I can think of to objectively test it would be to purchase a set of these cartridges and a set of GE OEM FQSVF cartridges, install and initialize both as directed in the filter instructions, take water samples from each and send them to an independent lab for testing and await the results. This would be expensive and take time, so I'm taking it on faith that the NSF certification claims made by AQUACREST are genuine, and that the cartridges filter out the contaminants that NSF says they do.What I can state here in my review is that I have two identical GE kitchen sink filters that use these cartridges, and I bought a set of four cartridges because each of my filters uses two. When I installed them, they twisted and locked into position just like GE OEM cartridges do. I then turned the water supply back on, and ran the filters for five minutes, as directed by GE in the filter user guide. I checked frequently around the filters and on the bottom of the cabinets in which the filters are installed, and there was no evidence of leakage.Water flow through the filters was comparable to what I remember with fresh GE OEM cartridges. Maybe a bit better, actually, since in the past, my GE OEM cartridges have been a bit inconsistent with water flow. Most have worked fine when new, but I've had a few sets that were relatively slow-flow right out of the box. So far, both of sets of AQUACREST cartridges are performing similarly in my filters. The water coming through my AQUACREST cartridges looks nice and clear, and tastes fine, no different from what I remember from fresh GE OEM cartridges. So, at least right out of the box, these AQUACREST cartridges appear to be an excellent value, providing performance comparable to that of GE OEM cartridges, but for just 2/3 the price of GE OEM cartridges.I'm not sure when I last purchased filter cartridges. My records show that the last time I purchased them was over 2 years ago, but that doesn't sound right, because this type of filter cartridge should be replaced at least once a year. It's possible that the last sets were purchased using a gift card or cash. In any case, these AQUACREST cartridges are rated for 900 gallons. I don't have any simple way to measure the quantity of water drawn over the life of the cartridge, so I will just plan to update this review when the flow gets slow enough to demand replacement, which should give some idea of how much life to expect from these cartridges.

They work!
Here’s what I like best about these filters: they always work, and they always expire (stop working) exactly when they’re supposed to. Once I bought another brand because these were sold out and the darn things didn’t work. Not sure what the problem was. I just wish they weren’t so expensive cause replacement every 6 months adds to the cost of an under sink water filter. Oh well.
