Baby Einstein® Baby's First Stories & Songs: Look, Listen, Laugh

I like this book for my 18 month old grandson. The music is clear and not static filled like some toys/books.

The book is called "Baby's First Stories Songs," yet the back indicates it is for 18 months. If you aren't reading and singing to your baby before then, something is wrong. Stories? There are no stories. There are three disjointed sections that are supposed to teach your child about music, colors, and day and night. They include mostly anthropomorphic animals with a single human child and a dinosaur-alien thrown in for good measure. The "songs" are actually short instrumental pieces played by a little heart-shaped enclosure tacked on to the corner of the book. Tacked on is exactly what it is as it has no relation to the content of the book. The whole thing seems like it was designed by a committee. At least my boy likes to push the button to make the music play.

I bought this used, as an Amazon warehouse deal. The music box doesn't work, even with new batteries. So much for the product being "inspected".
