I love the plug 'n' play aspect of Unitrack, for those of us that like to run trains, you can get right to it with Unitrack. I place one of these uncouplers after each of my turnouts in my small yard. I can quickly get to playing a switching game using Microtrains couplers. Sorting cars is a lot of fun based on random switch lists. I even put one on my test track to make sure my body mount couplers operate properly before adding them to the layout.

Kato is great

I like the functionality, but I deduct two stars: 1. Out of 5 I ordered, 2 had failed glue joints where the magnet is secured to the track. In that condition, they will lift up when cars pass over and cause a derailment. This is fairly minor, but it is annoying to have to clean the old glue off to get them to sit flush for re-gluing. 2. While Kato couplers do come with the necessary magnetic trips to work with these decouplers, they don't come apart nearly as easily as the Micro-Trains couplers.. Cars with truck mounted couplers with short arms (most of the cars in the Kato starter sets besides the gondola) are particularly bad, because the coupler can dip down when the magnet pulls on it, causing the coupler to bind up instead of releasing. It is also harder to decouple with cars that are too light. N scale cars should weigh about 1oz, and again the starter set cars are quite light, ranging from 0.35 to 0.65oz. If you take the time to add weight to each car, they will decouple more reliably. With Micro-Trains couplers, this decoupler works quite well. You can drop cars at super low speeds with no fuss.
