You might be able to use something like the NADSBox to attach an SD card to your Vic-20. Although designed for use with the Tandy 100/102 laptop there is really no reason it couldn't work with something like the Vic-20 as well. The NADSBox is available from here http://www.club100.org/

What is the read and write speeds?

I get 8.64 MBytes per Second on writing and 28.8 MBytes per Second on reading (via h2testw.) While I wouldn't call near 30 MBytes per Second slow, it certainly seems that it is becoming the minimum acceptable standard.

Tested it on two PCs, both running Win7. 1st AMD A8: not fast enough. 2nd Core2Duo, "Readyboost turned off/disabled", but no where does Microsoft document how to enabled it; so it seems MB or Core2Duo knows whether SD is fast enough to benefit. So, don't buy this if your primary goal is to use it for Readyboost.
