I do not write reviews and this is not a cliche. However, I think this review might help someone who is looking for a real shea butter from my home West Africa. We use raw shea butter for arthritic pain back home in Africa aside from using it as a moisturizer. You can rub this at any place on your body where you are feeling joint pain (FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY). I have used Shea butter back home for over 35 years before moving to the U.S. However, it is so disappointing what some sellers give to people in the name of shea butter. Also, sometimes buyers do not want the Shea butter that has its natural scent/aroma because they often say it is "smelly." That "smelly" is the natural aroma of the organic nut from which it is processed and that "smell" is what constitutes its natural powerful healing/moisturizing beneficial properties. So, the more "smelly" my sweet home shea butter is the more I am in love with it. That smell is why it is called shea butter just like peanut nut butter has its own "smell." The "more smelly" shea butter is the better for me and the higher my I trust for it:) So please, shea butter should be SOLD just as exactly as it is naturally so that buyers can use it however they prefer. It is left for the buyer to add any form of toxic chemicals they want to remove the “scent" or "smell" as some people may call it:) or some may bleach it to destroy the beneficial ingredients:( I was so happy when I opened the box of this Shea butter and the first thing I smelled was that thick wave of the smell of the REAL NATURAL SHEA BUTTER THAT I HAVE USED FOR DECADES BACK HOME IN MY "COUNTRY" West AFRICA. Very fresh, the consistency and the color were exactly the way they should be. I immediately rubbed it on my skin and it REMAINED what it should be as REAL SHEA BUTTER, not excessively oily yet highly moisturizing. This is the original raw shea butter and organic, I am sure because I am sure:) It is made from a seed whose plant grew naturally in the agro-forest back home; meanwhile, I started hearing of "organic" in the U.S.:) This is the original color of raw Shea butter as well (ivory). Sometimes we add palm oil a.k.a red oil to it back home but I prefer this natural color-ivory color. The white color "shea butter" is bleached and I do not call such shea butter anymore, based on my heritage and no offense. I love this shea butter, it has no seed, just needs to be melted down with a double boiler. Sometimes sellers out of fear may say that the shelf life is 2 years. But Shear butter rarely goes bad unless there are other external chemical reactions or due to extreme temperature but it had never gone bad in my experience. I use the same one for years but I do keep my shea butter away from sunlight and away home-light. I hide my shea butter mainly in my wardrobe or anywhere that is always dark with normal temperature. I was not paid in any way to leave this review, neither did I have time to write reviews, but I felt the pressure to give honor to whom it is due by bringing to light the goodness of this Shea butter, at least to encourage the seller to continue the excellent work. This might as well be of some help for anyone looking for original shea butter. I do not waste time in sending back some fake items that claim to come from Africa, things like shear butter or African black soap, but this one is the REAL WEST AFRICAN SHEA BUTTER FROM MY VERY HOME 😊 Note: Unfortnately, I did not have option to upload an update of the new video.

After weeks of researching shea butter and different companies, I finally purchased shea butter from Essential Depot. This QUALITY shea butter is AUTHENTIC!!! It has the nutty roasted (some say burnt) smell that authentic shea butter should have. I personally LOVE the smell because it's comforting and reassuring to know the shea butter is pure and untouched. If the natural scent is bothersome (roasted/burnt) real shea butter is not for you. The reviews that state it smelled burnt is accurate and that is because they have been using FAKE shea butter for years. Which in turn leads them to think this shea butter is rotten, spoiled, etc. In addition to the authenticity of the shea butter Essential Depot clearly shows the expiration date of the shea butter on the box. Shipping it out fast is a bonus but for this shea butter the wait is definitely worth it. I will DEFINITELY order from this company again and again. As long as they continue to sell quality shea butter I am a customer for life. If anyone has an issue with their order, give Essential Depot a chance to fix it because their customer service is also excellent.

Over the last three years I have bought this butter at least 3 - 4 times. The most recent order I noticed the butter wasn't smooth or creamy as it had been before. The butter color looked differently immediately after opening the plastic container box. It took lots of time to get the beaded lumps out of the butter. I had to melt all the way down into a liquid (placed in the hot sun) and then allowed to coalesce. Not sure if this quality is on par as the previous. If you are using this to make butters to sell, or just for personal use, be inform that this was my experience as of July 2024.

This is the first time, that I'm having a small issue. Normally the Shea butter smells amazing. For some reason this batch smells old or like moisture got into the Shea butter. I make body butter so it's important that the the Shea butter is right

I got a block of shea butter to start my lip balm business, made a small test batch and I noticed that it smelled kind of burnedand even a little stinky. The lip balm i made carried that smell too. So I googled it and I'm afraid I got an expired batch. The shelf life is supposed to be 2 years but I didn't see any expiration date on it. I am sending it back and I will update this review with my whole experience. UPDATE: I sent the item back and got a full refund and an email from the seller, it was very professional, and I had no issues returning the item. but after doing my research I realized that was the smell of UNREFINED shea butter! I feel horrible for giving this shop a hard time. I re ordered it and the smell wasn't bad, I was just paranoid. I hope this review helps someone lol
