Not what I ordered, but I’m keeping it!
Replacement for a 5 year old Pur Water Filter. I ordered the black horizontal filter which I paid $8.00 extra for, what I got was a black vertical filter, that arrived unsealed, with 5 previous delivery labels to a customer in Minnesota, in addition to my shipping label. The box was not taped or sealed, I should be grateful it was closed, all the contents were in the box and it works flawlessly. I’m not requesting a replacement, this one works, in addition to it being a quick connect which will make it easier to keep clean. Enjoy the $8.00!

Great
I hesitated to buy it after reading some reviews. However, I had no choice but decided to buy it. I installed it, and initially the water was coming out from different places around the faucet. So, I took it off and I decided to reach out the landlord office maintenance team and asked them to buy another faucet and put it back and it worked perfectly. So, if there is a leak then it is the problem with your faucet NOT with item itself OR you did not install it in a proper manner. The customer support is really great and helped me with all questions that I had about filter. Do NOT use hot water through filter. ONLY cold water.

Easy to install, cheap, water tastes great. Pretty much a slam dunk!
Installation of this filter system was quite easy. All I had to do was unscrew the current aerator on my sink faucet and screw the PUR device into it. There are three included adapters for more sink sizes, including interior threaded faucets. The filter unit slips into the black cylinder easily - though there is not much guidance as to what way it should go, and I kind of doubted it would do anything because of how it was seated. But, when I tested the filter, it did indeed work. Flipping the switch up lets water run normally, while flipping it down runs water through the filter and out a thin spigot hole. It's rather slow compared to a faucet, but faster than a standalone "gravity" filter pitcher, probably because of the water pressure. It does take a fair amount of time for the water to stop flowing after you turn off the faucet - I counted about 20 seconds until there were only very isolated drips. An indicator light tells you how far along your filter is in use.I did a visual examination of the water as well as a blind taste test. As you can see in the photo, the unfiltered (Chicago) tap water (on the far left) has a filmy residue, and it did affect the taste. The other two samples were from the PUR sink filter and from our PUR standing pitcher in the fridge. Both of these filtered samples lack the filmy residue.I put all three into the fridge to reach an equal temperature, and then I tasted. The unfiltered water was easy to identify from taste alone. The filtered samples were much cleaner tasting (i.e. like nothing at all) and I could not distinguish between them. This tells me that 1. they are filtering the water; and 2. that they filter about equally. For the cost and the ease of use, I give this 5 stars. It's really quite convenient and doesn't involve the hassle of constantly refilling a pitcher.

Easy to Install, Good Short Term Solution
We are very sensitive to the taste of municipal water. The area we live in has a rather bad mineral taste. We have always purchased bottled water but with the Covid 19 pandemic, bottle water has been a challenge to get.As an alternative we purchased a PUR PFM 100 Black. It is easy to assemble and install. Took less than 5 minutes. The filter has a by-pass valve, so you switch when you want filtered water. You should never run hot water through the filter. You need to run water through the filter for 5 minutes when first installed. Here is a summary of the PUR PFM filter. It is economical, the filter is good for 100 gallons, after which the filter should be changed. There is an LED light which indicates when it is time to change the filter. This is an economical product. You get what you pay for. I am looking to replace this after 6 months or so, if we continue heavy use.It does a good job of filtering. It is a bit of a problem in that it is bulky and can get in the way. It is easy to uninstall/reinstall.We got this as a temporary solution. We did not want to spend lavishly on a heavy duty system. It serves our needs for the current situation.

Great buy
I like how easy it was to install. I don't like to read much instructions and so it was quick and painless. I bought for a guy who is disabled and I help out and he is very haooy with the purchase. Has nice water flow and it's easy to switch to filtered water which I love so your not.wastimg your filter side when not needing to.

Disappointed
For reference, I live in a nice neighborhood in NY and our water rating is good. We just got this as an extra precaution. I liked this particular product because it had good reviews and said no tools required for installation. When I got it, it DEFINITELY took me purchasing a tool to remove the bolt on my sink. For the price, I wish they would've included some sort of tool to help remove the bolt thing in order to install the filter. Then, we started using it and literally 15 days later, it's saying it needs to be replaced (the light is flashing red). I replaced the filter, followed all the steps, and it said the red light was supposed to reset to green--- nope! It's still flashing red which makes me think it's broken already. We're 2 people in a small home, so we don't use much water, and we have decent water quality to begin with. I'm angry about how fast the filter was used up and feel jipped.
