Works great
I’m using this Culligan Whole House Water Filter System for my ice machine, and it works great! The water is noticeably cleaner, and my ice comes out crystal clear without any odd taste. Installation was straightforward thanks to the built-in bypass valve and included tools, and I love that it helps protect both my ice maker and plumbing from sediment buildup. Culligan’s quality really shows, solid construction, easy maintenance, and peace of mind knowing my water is well filtered before it even reaches my appliances. Great price and fit perfectly, Highly recommend!

Best quality filters at an amazing price. I am thrilled.
I installed 4 of these in our off-grid cabin that uses a rainwater harvesting system. I absolutely love the clear enclosure, to see the condition of the filter. VERY VERY well made at an unbelievably attractive price. MUCH better than anything you would find in a big-box store.

A couple if issues with product quality but functions properly
Installing the (2) 3/4 compression fittings into the filter head required a significant amount of force. I am 100% certain the fittings are not cross-threaded. I triple checked the fittings during installation to ensure they are not cross-threaded. Poor quality of the threads in the filter head I determined. Both fittings did seat properly (with 2 wraps of teflon tape on fitting threads) on the first attempt without any leaks. I'm just surprised at the amount of force required to fully seat the fittings. The bypass valve on the filter head will NOT rotate. The bypass valve is permanently stuck in the "filter" position. Manufacturer instruction's state the bypass valve could be difficult to rotate due to shipping across several different climate zones. On my particular unit, I was hesitant to force the valve to rotate as it is made of plastic. I'll shut off the water to the filter assembly when changing the filter. I also removed the spun polypropylene filter and installed a carbon filter as my goal is to remove the Aesthetic Chlorine Taste & Odor from our water. I lubricated the O-Ring with Molykote 111, as it is food and beverage safe, in hopes of avoiding future issues removing the filter housing. Overall, the unit is installed, functions properly and zero leaks. I'd have rated the unit 5 stars if the bypass valve were fully functional.

great quality
UPDATE 9/13/15: Still good as ever after bimonthly filter changes... 2 years and satisfied. I'm using this as a whole house sediment filter and it seems to be doing a great job. I had a little backwash filter before, well I've had two of those, and they don't last very long... this was about the same price, except of course I have to change the filter... no backwashing on a paper filter. My water is straight from a clean and clear river, so I just need sediment removed and it's used for everything except the drinking water, which then goes through a reverse osmosis system. I put the replacement filters on subscription. I did not give this a "perfect" rating simply because it's still new, we'll see how it holds up through time. This unit comes with a hefty filter wrench for changing filters, but as mentioned by others, the support bracket must be ordered separately. Since my unit is located in the pump house, it has 1" schedule 40 pipes in and out, so it seems sturdy enough. I'm happy with the installation and unit. Had no leaking at all. Because I had the backwash filters before, which only caught the big stuff, I have a second, smaller filter located at the water heater and another at the washing machine, since this is river water and we get cypress needles in the fall, but those stay clean with this filter in front of them... now that's just a backup to prevent other problems if this filter breaks. I bought the level 1 sed filter for use in this housing, but also bought a level 4 filter in case I decide to filter more... but that was double the price so I hope it's not needed. I'll save it for emergencies. Since I have all pvc in the pump system, installation was very simple for me, I just installed a plastic valve at the input and output so I can close it when checking/replacing the filter (I have a pressure tank located after the filter, as well as check valves).

Works great
Bought this a few years ago and couldn't be more pleased. Changing the filter is simple. Here's a tip. If you have access to the shut off for your whole house, turn it off, flush toilet, change filter. No need to monkey around with relieving pressure on water filter.

Great water filter
Works great and can see what is coming out of the water and not being ingested. Definitely a great buy

Peace of mind!
We've been in our new house for a year now and are on a local water supply for the subdivision. We had smell issues in the water and pulled the anode rod from our 1 year old water heater, and it was down to the wire. I have since learned that the smell comes from the decaying zinc on the anode, but had already ordered this filter to prefilter anything that may be contributing to that smell. It's so nice to be able to see that we don't have sand or other debris in our water, and so far only see a rusty iron color on the filter, which is easy to view thru the clear canister. I used a couple of sharkbite fittings and intercepted the incoming water line before the softener and water heater, so our entire system is now filtered. After this, I added a powered CorroProtect, which I did have issues with, but now my water smells are history. Installation was easy and it looks fine where I installed it.

King of the Hill
So you need a good filter with pressure release, bypass and off valve that common elements will fit, this is your ticket. I have owned other brands of this design of filter that were disappointing due to weak thin bodies, poor mounting arrangement, o-rings leaking and female thread of heads splitting due to force of the tightened taper threaded. The Culligan overcomes all these common problems with strong rigid bodies, excellent mounting bracket, well seated o-ring between body and head. Finally while the head is plastic they wrap the outside diameter of the female threads so the plastic body is captured in a band of stainless steel to prevent it from expanding to point of splitting. Pretty smart idea to keep the cost down and quality up. As with ANY plastic head that is threaded it is amazingly easy to get your threads off track and have cross threading as it is called. That is because when you wrap the male threads of the nipple with Teflon tape they become more shallow so be extra careful to start them straight and keep them straight but be sure to use a lot of Teflon tape, that is the only way they will seal. Do not use dope, paste of any kind. I used stainless steel nipples and bushings, I do not recommend using PVC nipples but that is me. I have attached a photo of my install under the kitchen sink so you can see the bracket and etc. Mine did not come with the timer, as advertised, but I never them anyway so that is why you see an open attachment area. I used it here because I did not want to have a special separate faucet for pure water. This filter give me plenty of flow and water improvement and I just pipe it to the cold water side of the main faucet. I use an element that removes the sediment, chlorine and other bad taste. Thank you for reading, I took the time because I know you will not be disappointed.
