Gunsmoke - Vol 1 - Old Time Radio Shows Audio CD – January 1, 2005

I bought this set as a gift for my husband. It was delivered right on time, which was nice since it was for a gift. He is really enjoying it. The quality is good and he has had fun listening.

The timing was exceptional and the service was great, You Rock! and I will be ordering more and keep up the great work.

I have enjoyed listening to the old radio shows, but I don't believe the reproduction is at the top.More careful volume and tone consideration is in order.Would I purchase again, yes.

Good old days

One reviewer says, "the quality is good..."It should be--these episodes were produced in the early 1950s, when this kind of radio was fast disappearing as TV sets were plugged in all over the U.S. and Canada. The twilight of an era...And that means the PRODUCTION of these shows was superb. I recall very clearly listening to a scene of Matt arriving at a homestead to tell a farmer's wife she is now a widow. You can hear the chickens pecking in the farm yard. You hear the saddle creak as Dillon dismounts, his spurs as he walks to the steps (slowly...oh, boy, he hates doing this!). You know the steps are wooden...hollow. I KNOW when he knocks on the door, it's a screen door. The woman is singing as she goes about her chores; you KNOW she`s inside...Amazing stuff.And William Conrad (later, TV`s `Cannon`) is an absolute pro...Radio drama never got any better than this.
