Skechers Men's, Vicksburk Gentain Soft Toe Work Boot

Break-in time was next to nothing. So comfortable! Skechers are pretty much all I wear now.

Now actually I have Been buying the Skecthers Holdrens lender boots but they have not been avaliable but these look close and they had 2 left so I took a chance and picked both. I am so glad I did,these are very close and fit perfectly.So many things are a disapointment it seems but these made day.Now I can retire the other ones to be my lawnmower boots.They have served me well.When they have more I shall pick up another set. Plus the price was fantastic The 2 pair of boots in the pictures are my older ones which I still keep around for outdoor work.Next picture are the new ones.

Unfortunately they are very hot and very narrow other wise decent look and decent feel. Holding up well to a beating from the job.

Comfortable

The boot is comfortable and feels sturdy and well constructed. The oiled leather is waterproof and appears to cover the surface perfectly. I bought a pair similar to these and wore them for about eight years with no issues.

I usually buy a pair of sketchers segment melego boots once a year. I'm on my feet pretty much all day working and they take a beating. This year I saw these and decided to try them out since they're the same style as my "favorite" boots. These are definitely more suited for work. The only thing is all of my other sketcher boots are in a 9.5. I got these in a 9.5. They were too tight but i wore them for a few days hoping to break them in. The leather is a lot thicker on these so they don't stretch. I did contact Amazon and explained my situation and they gave me a courtesy return even though I wore them to work for a few day. I reorder them in a size 10 and they fit perfect.

I have been wearing the Sketchers Vicksburk boot for over 15 years. My last pair is over 5 years old and still kicking but a little beat up. Have been unable to find these until recently due to the recent insanity with supply shortages and Covid. Was very happy to see these back in circulation again until my recent order arrived. The boots looked great but when put on, they were very tight across the balls of my feet and very uncomfortable due to squeezing. I have never encountered this before with Sketchers. They have been consistent since my first pairs of boots and tennis shoes.I immediately checked the size labels and found them to be dead on, just the same as my older boots. I held a new boot up to an older one and immediately spotted the difference. When measuring, I found my older boot soles to be 4-3/4 inches wide across the balls and the new boots to be 4-1/2 inches wide, across the balls. I measured a second pair of Sketchers boots that are about 2 years old and not Vicksburks, and found them to be 4-3/4 inches wide as well. Both fit like a glove.It appears that the Chinese manufacturers are cutting corners and using the 4-1/2 inch soles over multiple size ranges. Typically, I could use my shoe stretcher to widen a shoe that was narrow fitting with a 4-3/4 inch sole but there is nowhere to stretch to, where a 4-1/2 inch sole is used.I am a retired industrial engineer and when I encounter something that has always been excellent for me, but something changes for the worse with that thing, I always want to know why. As is always the case for me, Amazon refunded me for these boots, no questions asked. Sketchers is an excellent company and will improve, I'm sure, especially since the sun is setting on Chinese manufacturing.
