For budding little scientists
This is a fantastic science play set, especially aimed for around the Key stage 1 age group. I think something like this is particularly good because even though they do some science learning at school they don't really do this kind of hands on interactive style learning until they're a bit older (I don't think I did until secondary school!).This set has an assortment of basic science apparatus plus some gloves and a set of goggles. Comes with a booklet containing a small number of easy science experiments you can do at home with adult supervision but you will need to supply some extra items, these are simple enough and can usually be found at home, for example cotton wool and lemon juice. All really easy, safe and fun to learn about natural science like growing seeds and chemical reactions this set is good quality too even though everything is plastic it is not cheap or flimsy. This set was £15.99 (at the time of review) but for what you get in it and what you get out of it I think is worth it. The apparatus is reusable so you could look up other age relevant experiments to do or come up with some of your own. Enjoyable and recommended for budding little scientists.

Good but frustrating
My daughter loved this set but you have to buy loads of additional supplies to do the experiments

Reveal the creativity at the core of science...
Maybe I'm wide of the mark but I hope that modern education may have gone some way to underline the creativity at the heart of all scholastic disciplines - science included. Years back when I was a school I took an early unilateral decision to turn my back on maths and science in favour of arts/humanities based subjects - not because I couldn't do them, more down to the fact that what was taught made me assume there were just set answers. Unlike arts subjects which seemed to me to hold an infinite number of possibilities. If only I'd had Science4you's My First Science Kit I might have realised the considerable creative potential science offers. This is an excellent educational set that's fun too. With 31 individual items in the pack and 26 experiments plus instructions, there's plenty to explore. Some of the things needed aren't enclosed but are for the most part household items. So in my view at £14.99 at time of writing this science kit represents good value and - excitingly packaged - it would make a perfect gift for children aged 4 through to teens.

Really great first science kit
I really liked this kit. There are a lot of different items included and 26 different experiments to carry out. The instruction books set out clearly the steps you need to take for each experiment and whilst there are quite a few instances where you need additional items they are all general household items. For teaching younger children the basics around chemical reactions, observing nature and using basic tools it really hits the mark. There's so much to do it will last for hours and hours doing all the experiments. Really great item. Would recommend.

Fun and educational
Excellent science kit for young children. My 5 year old grandson was ecstatic with this. I agree with other reviews in that some additional things are required (inexpensive items too) however this is expected I think and just shows how you can keep reusing this kit and that it's great value for money. The bits inside are fantastic quality, nothing flimsy. The kit is really engaging, fun and interactive and a great way to educate children and help with concentration skills. Would make a fantastic gift, definitely recommend.

Very good value at the Amazon price
Chemistry has been a passion since I was bought my first science set very many years ago. This good value little set covers more than chemistry but is in its way better for that. Using the kit provided and extra chemicals found in every home, the instructions show a range of fun experiments that all work easily and well to inspire the next generation of Einsteins!
