Amazing!!
I loved this book just as much as the 1st!! I’m addicted to these characters! Literally have become my perfect MG detective mystery story. Myrtle is still so amazing, smart, brave, determined, loyal, & just the best detective ever. Myrtle, Miss Judson, & the “horrible” Aunt Helena go on holiday. Her father wants her to get as far away from things to do w/murder after her last “case”. Little did he know he was sending her & the others right into another one! Lol Everything happens on a train, & then they stay at this little town that has its own little mystery/tragedy. Peony the cat is in this 1 even more, & I love that cat so much lol she’s definitely a special cat. I love it when she “talks” too! Even the little details like that all add up to the perfection of these books. We also see “Stephen”(if you’ve read them, you know who this is lol), & I was so happy! He is hilarious!! & so smart! Myrtle gets a friend her age that helps a little in this too(Clive) & I loved that friendship. There were quite a few twists, & I was quite surprised by them-loved them. This was such a humorous, fun detective mystery. This 1 also has the * after certain words, w/a Myrtle description at the bottom of the page. Lol still adore that. Highly recommend these books!! I can’t wait until the 3rd comes out! I selfishly hope that there will be even more after that one.

A Sweet Mystery with unexpected twists and turns
This was a very good book about a complicated murder and theft that took place on a holiday train in the 1800’s. The characters are believable and run the gamut of personalities. There are plots and subplots. Myrtle is very smart and though her detective efforts are often hobbled by the standards for the proper behavior of a lady, she is undeterred. The book is light, has dry humor and was totally engaging from start to finish. I recommend this to anyone from 4th grade on up. I’m 69 and thoroughly enjoyed it. You will too.

I love Myrtle!
How to Get Away with Myrtle is a fabulous follow up to Premediated Myrtle.Just like in Premediated Myrtle, Myrtle has a fabulous narrative voice, and her footnotes and breaking of the fourth wall continue into How to Get Away with Myrtle. Her character voice is so fun to read. Most of the side characters in How to Get Away with Myrtle are new characters, and Bunce does a nice job of developing them. I also loved the reappearance of Mr. Blakeney and how he got to play a part in the plot. The setting of the story was developed well, giving it the perfect atmosphere of a rustic seaside village. The mystery, like in the previous novel, is well done, keeping the readers on their toes. I had a hunch about who the culprit was, and I was partially right. If you enjoyed Premediated Myrtle, make you read How to Get Away with Myrtle.Cautions: two blasphemies; non-graphic mentions of strangulation, stabbing, and poisoning

Delightful Seaside murder mystery unraveled by a 12-year-old-girl in 1893
How delightful! Myrtle, a twelve-year-old daughter of a solicitor in England 1893 is sent to be on Holiday with her less than favorite Aunt Helena. Their train takes Myrtle, her governess Miss Judson and her Aunt to a newly built resort at the beach when a theft happens in route...and things only get worse from there. The resort is more of a wilting facade, covering up a murder and illicit financial dealings. Myrtle and her cat Peony to the rescue as the plot thickens and Aunt Helena is thrown 'in jail'. Who to trust? And who did it? Elizabeth C Bunce does a great job letting us readers feel the rough ride of the train and its close quarters, the smell, sounds, and feel of the beach town, and the threat of continuing the search for the truth, from the unknown bad guy. A great read!

Awesome books to read with a pre-teen or young teenage daughter
My eleven-year old daughter loves mysteries. She reads well above grade level, but she still likes to read things together, as do I. It's awesome father-daughter time. We have read the entire Nancy Drew series together, save for a few. These Myrtle Hardcastle books are simply awesome. The reader is hard-pressed to figure out the whodunnit before the end of the book. I would read them as an adult. The quality is that good. We will buy all of them as they trickle out.

Great book series for preteen
Currently reading this series with my almost 13 yr old. She is loving it, and so am I. The books are very interesting. Lots of surprises and twists to keep you on your toes. There is obviously death and danger in the book, but they do a good job of not making it too gory, which I appreciate.
