Very well printed by the publishers.Excellent binding & printing
"Sanatana Dharma: An Elementary Text-Book of Hindu Religion and Ethics" is a remarkable publication that offers a comprehensive introduction to Hinduism without any sectarian affiliations. Originally published in 1916 by Benaras Hindu University, this rare book provides invaluable insights into the fundamental principles and beliefs of Hinduism. Although physical copies of this book are no longer available due to unfortunate circumstances, it has been digitally preserved by Microsoft after being discovered in the library of California University. The foreword of the book, written by the Board of Trustees of the Central Hindu College, sets the tone for its content. It emphasizes the importance of providing religious and ethical training that is inclusive, liberal, and distinctly Hindu. The objective is to unite the diverse forms of Hindu thought while excluding non-Hindu ideologies. The book avoids controversial doctrines and contemporary social and political issues, instead focusing on building a foundation of religion and ethics that promotes piety, duty, strength, self-reliance, righteousness, and balance in individuals."Sanatana Dharma" is primarily intended for Hindu boys in the middle and upper sections of high schools in India. It serves as a general yet accurate resource, laying the groundwork for a deeper understanding of Hinduism in later academic pursuits and life experiences. The text explores orthodox ideas and doctrines, but refrains from delving into sectarian divisions. This approach ensures that readers from various backgrounds can find common ground while allowing room for additional teachings from individual perspectives. The book is organized into three parts, each covering essential aspects of Hindu religion and ethics. Part I introduces fundamental Hindu religious ideas, including concepts such as the One Existence, the Many, Re-birth, Karma, Sacrifice, and the Visible and Invisible Worlds. Part II focuses on general Hindu religious customs and rites, discussing topics like Samaskaras (sacraments), Shraddha (ancestral offerings), Shancham (purification rituals), and various forms of worship. Part III delves into ethical teachings, exploring topics such as Ethical Science, the Foundations of Ethics as given by Religion, Right and Wrong, the Standard of Ethics, Virtues and their foundation, Bliss and Emotions, and more.Throughout the book, shlokas (sacred verses) are included at the end of each chapter, encouraging readers to commit them to memory. This serves as a valuable resource of sacred authorities on Hinduism, further enriching one's understanding and connection with the religion."Sanatana Dharma: An Elementary Text-Book of Hindu Religion and Ethics" is a treasure trove of knowledge that illuminates the core principles of Hinduism in a clear and concise manner. It offers a balanced approach, respecting the diversity of Hindu thought while emphasizing unity and tolerance. Although this book may be aimed at Hindu youth, its wisdom and teachings are relevant to readers of all ages who seek a deeper understanding of Hinduism's rich heritage. While physical copies of the book may no longer be available, its digitization ensures its accessibility to a wider audience. I highly recommend this rare publication to anyone interested in Hinduism, as well as parents, educators, and individuals looking to explore the beauty and wisdom of Sanatana Dharma. Let us cherish this valuable resource and share it with the younger generation, preserving the timeless teachings and cultural heritage of Hinduism for years to come.Jai Bharat🚩

It is an eyeopner for me. Though I have read a lot of spiritual book but the way this book has been presented is a must read for every Indian. we have lost our glory by ethic and etiquatte in present Macaulain system of education. It will helps us to understand what is correct and why is correct? The second is not avilable to most of us. This book provides that information with its reference. Hope it should come in curiculam of school from 5-8 th class when character are built.

A poor reprographic reproduction of the original
With too many typos and a whole chapter (The four purusharthas) missing. Better to purchase the title straight from The Theosophical Publishing House, Adayar, Chennai. Though it's an elementary text book, on the cover page it's mentioned as advanced text book!
