Casper Sleep Backrest Pillow, One Size, Gray

Love this back pillow! It’s perfect for reading in bed, watching TV, or just relaxing. Super supportive and way more comfortable than stacking regular pillows.

For background I am a 40 hour a week desk jockey, and during the pandemic when we were sent home I ended up sitting all over the house (couches, beds, etc.) to work. This wrecked my back via poor posture, no support, and caused tech neck. I went through 18 months of chiro treatment which did help me (mostly) get back into alignment, and I read the McKenzie Method book and now regularly practice the exercises from that book. Most days I stretch, which helps. But the back soreness and headaches were still creeping in, due to my love of reading in bed. I spent some $$ on the XXL husband pillow here on Amazon back in 2020 (it was ok) and used it for about three years. Then I saw a review for the Casper and thought what the heck? What can it hurt to try it, there is a decent return policy. I have used the Casper backrest 4 nights now, and have woken up with zero lumbar/back soreness or cervical/neck pain and/or headaches. Yes, zero. So so glad I pulled the trigger on this one. It is large, yes, but it is a backrest, not a bolster pillow. And I have no issues moving it off the bed, and I am not a weightlifter. See photos for comparison to a regular standard-size pillow. The beauty of this backrest is the comfortable support, and how it is tapered, with great support for your lower back. And it is not too hard, not too soft.

I bought and returned several other pillows before buying this one. I only use it for reading/watching TV in bed and I have found it to be super comfortable for that. It’s soft enough to mold to your body but still offer support. Be aware this pillow is heavy and the cover is much more blue than gray. It doesn’t match any of my other decor and I’m not aware that they sell covers in other colors. Big mistake on their part! Certainly I’m not the only customer that would like a more neutral colored cover.

OFFICIAL second review 🎊🎉 I do feel this pillow should be a little less money. In my opinion if it was about 50$ less at that price point I feel it be a bit better . So I ordered this pillow being the second review, I take it’s either new or you too are hesitant because of the price . (There was one non descriptive review) I decided to try it because I am pregnant and was desperate to find a pillow to help keep me at more of a angle especially when I sleep. The typical “body like pillows “ were to soft and gave me a hard time to lay on as I would slide off or sink in . I needed something for firm but not hard to help keep me up and not hurt my back . I get a lot of back pains to being pregnant. The pillow came exactly as pictured visually,the size is nice and big firm yet soft . I think I’m going to keep it because it basically does so far what need it to do . It’s comparable to a memory foam pillow but a tad bit less firm and as can maintain its shape and not go flat (so far) . It feel like it’s shock absorbent which really helps my back . I use it to lay no matter the location and even to bed in conjunction with my memory foam pillow . Sometimes you have to spend more to get what your looking for because that boppy pillow just wasn’t it for me . One think I realized is it cannot fit a pillow case and they don’t sell there own for this pillow so you can change it . So when washing I have to remove the only and only case and put it back on . ( it’s very thin with a thin zipper ) I fear if it ever gets messed up in wash or a accident happens I’ll have a pillow inner shell that I couldn’t use . The pillow inner part or “shell” with the stuffing in it has a smell too . It’s pretty strong and chemical combination with something else and I’m not sure what it was . When I first got the pillow it made me concerned because I thought it was mold I was smelling. 🤢 yeah I know I smells like mold or a old closet but upon inspection I didn’t see any signs of use or mold so for now it’s covered back up and covered again with a sheet to help me . Over all yes I guess I’d say if your desperate for relief I’d say get it some times you gotta just do it if you got it . For your body’s sake . I’m finally able to sleep longer . I can see this also being good for postpartum also , in terms of marking it easy to get out of bed and keeping you at a angle for “drainage “ as well as less stretching if you had a c section. Id also recommended if you can’t shell out for this pillow a wedge shaped pillow. That you can use too with another pillow of your choice on top.

I love this pillow! We got it because my very distracted 4 month old needs to feed in a quiet dark room - eg our bedroom. The pillow has a nice memory foam and is very supportive. It’s great for breastfeeding in bed. Be warned - It is quite hefty though!

So before purchasing I read a lot of the reviews on this product, because even with the Prime Day discount - this was an expensive pillow. So far I have used this pillow for watching TV on the floor, reading on the couch, sleeping on my side, back, and stomach, and had my mom try it out for a few hours of couch reading. We both love it, and she was seriously surprised with how comfortable it was. I didn't intend to make this my sleeping pillow, but I adore it. The cushioning and support are incredible. When side sleeping with my shoulder on top of the pillow, it still supported my head, and I could tuck my arms underneath it for even more support. I do often suffer from heartburn at night, and am excited about the "wedge" shape and being able to sleep slightly elevated with this pillow - instead of piling 4 regular pillows to try and achieve the same thing. I read reviews about how "heavy" it is and that being an issue, but honestly the weight of it is comforting and prohibits me from yeeting it from the bed during my sleep like all my other flimsy pillows. Since unboxing, I have not noticed any strange smell or noticeable off-gassing. I will be making a few extra pillow cases, as it won't fit anything traditional and I want it to last in my house full of pets. Do yourself a favor and buy the damn pillow. P.S. my senior dog loved it the most and has claimed it as her own.

Wowza super impressed! It is SO comfortable!! Bought to use in bed as a backrest for nursing our baby coming soon and it is going to be perfect. Don’t hesitate to buy if you want a comfy backrest cushion. You won’t be disappointed.
