Rotten
All the nuts were moldy and rotten. Not edible at all!!If I could rate it a minus 1 for quality I would.

Large fresh chestnuts
I was very hesitant to order fresh chestnuts online. But since I couldn't find any in the stores this year, I decided to risk it. I'm so glad I did. These were extra large fresh perfect chestnuts, the best I've ever had. They were a lot more than what I would have paid for them normally, but I'm very glad I ordered them. There wasn't one bad Chestnut in the whole bunch, and they came about a week before expected.

Loose pack in bubble mailer, 2021 harvest is NOT fresh.... package was wet inside
I would NOT have ordered if I had noticed the line that says "From the 2021 harvest season". 2 year old nuts ARE NOT FRESH, not even if stored in a vacuum packed container in a freezer till shipped. They also did NOT come in a mesh bag(as claimed in listing), they were loose packed in a bubble mailer which had water drops on the inside of the mailer and on the nuts. That being said, in my bubble mailer I found:> large chestnuts with most being larger than walnuts in their shell.> noticeably bad chestnuts = 10 total: 1 with a hole, 3 with cracked skins, 3 that have started to sprout, and 3 that floated.I air-fried a small batch of 18 (to make some chestnut icing): Almost all of those have semi-translucent greyish, brownish, blueish, or purplish streaks inside the nutmeat. After cooling most of the streaks changed to some shade of brown.Only 2 of the nuts look edible after roasting. However, I do not detect any foul, rancid, or bad smell from the roasted nuts.

Chestnuts.
Got here on time, nice sized smaller and more tender. Only issue was that close to a out a third of them had mold growing on them. Wasn't sure if it would cause a consumption problem with them. So threw them away and washed the remainder that were left. That being said they are good and I am enjoying the rest of them. Too bad I lost a third of them though.

They are perfect for planting
They are exactly as described. I bought them to try and plant them, and the germinated! So they are definitely organic, fresh and raw. You do have to let them sit over winter but itโs worth the wait!

2 out of every 3 are moldy.
The package arrived double sealed in bubble mailers, and inside the inner bubble mailer was a vaguely damp bag filled with chestnuts. I have since roasted 19 of them and only been able to eat about 5. Very disappointing success rate. To make 3 times as many as you need to hope to get as many as you intended to is a huge waste of time and money.

Did not meet expectations of quality chestnuts
I ordered the Chestnuts for my husband who is well versed in preparing them and always looks forward to having them during the holidays. We now live rurally and decided to order a bag online. He was very disappointed in this order. He noted that some of the chestnuts in the pkg. were spoiled and inedible. To him the meat in the shell is supposed to be yellowish and turns white while roasting. While scoring the surface he noticed they were almost all white and after eating the nuts he could use, he became intestinally ill! It was an unpleasant experience and we will not order chestnuts through Amazon again.
