Budget tripod: good value for lighter devices
This is a very lightweight, budget tripod. It wasn't the right tripod for my application - mounting a 6 lb spotting scope, but it would be a good choice for casual use with smartphones, go pros, or lighter cameras or camcorders. For these applications, the Victiv tripod is just fine and a very cost-effective choice.I ended buying a couple price points higher in the $100-120 range and the difference in quality was substantial. Thicker gauge aluminum, bigger diameter tubes, higher quality metal hardware, and superior metal pan head. Again I needed a more heavy duty solution, so needed to pay more for something appropriate.I'm sure that if I had paid even more - $150-200, the quality would have been even better. But going from 40 to 100 tripod was a quantum jump and a sensible upgrade depending on your budget and application.

Nice features - Better than expected for the price!
Victiv Pioneer 775 73 inch version Purchased on 3-31-2022 for around $50 USDAll releases operate smoothly. The weight hook seems more than adequate for 10 pounds.Pan is smooth, not too loose, tilt adjusts from very loose to locked tight, which is great. One feature I especially like is that when removing the quick release place, the release stays open until you place a plast back in OR push down the 'sensor' button. This is phenomenal ! !!It saves fumbling to re-open the quick release with a camera or other device in your hand(s)!I have other tripods that cost twice as much that do not have this simple feature !Conceivably, this feature could prevent the dropping of a device, therefore saving much more than the cost of the tripod !So far, I am quite pleased with this tripod

I really love this tripod
This tripod is my favorite tripod that I own. It looks and feels sturdy, easy to move around and I can put a variety of cameras on the tripod with no problem. Everything from my GoPro to DSLR to prosumer camcorders have been on this tripod and never given me any trouble. In fact, I plan on buying a couple more because they work so well. I even used a camera slider and it carries the load with no problem whatsoever. Definitely a GREAT value for the money but I'd pay much more for a tripod of this quality.

Terrifically tall, not 100% smooth on panning
This tripod is lightweight, compact, and extends to a very tall light. I am extremely pleased with it. When I begin to pan either left or right, there is a little bit of play before you start to move the fluid head. This makes for a little bit of the shakiness that I was hoping to eliminate when I transitioned to the fluid head. Once my motion is started, the fluid head provides for a very smooth journey all the way to my endpoint. I have never used a more expensive mount, but I have certainly used a less expensive one. You get what you pay for, and at the end of the day, I am pleased with this purchase and am not prepared to take the next step up the quality (and price) ladder.

Terrific value!
I'm not a pro by any stretch, but using this tripod compared to my old one is night and day! Much mores sturdy feeling, and pan and tilt are significantly smoother than the previous ones I've used. Would highly recommend for all but the most sensitive of pro!
