It is a pretty shelf item
I wanted something to tell me the weather without the TV. It is cute

Scratched
The packaging was okay. It definitely felt like I got someone’s returned purchase or the display model from a store. That feeling was solidified when I pulled it out of the package and it had a couple small scratches on it. It does seem to work though.

I Purchased this as a gift for Christmas. I was very happy with it as was the recipient.

Updated: very subtle
Update: after doing some googling, I came across a suggestion to put it in hot water (not boiling, just hot water from the tap). This will cause nearly all of the “fluff” to dissolve. Give it a gentle swish every couple of minutes in the hot water to help the dissolving along. This sort of “resets” the storm glass.I have it a try and after letting it return to room temperature, I started to see it actually change from day to day. It’s subtle, but it does change. For my location, it’s less of a weather predictor than an indicator of the current weather, but it does at least change slowly with each day.Original comment: While the quality of the glass bulb and the wooden base seem good, this item unfortunately does absolutely nothing. No change whatsoever in the crystals that are supposed to reflect upcoming weather changes.

Very Disappointed
We are very disappointed. Bought this as a gift for our father who is the epitome of a weather bug. We have had a bunch of different weather types that should have been reflected in the storm glass but it doesn't change. It was a dud of a gift and just a glorified water filled paper weight. We knew it may not be perfect at predicting weather when we bought it, but there has been no change in any of the crystals. He told me outside of our return window so he is stuck with it.

Beautiful conversation piece
It's a beautiful piece and, if I had it set up in the proper conditions would love to see it change. However, I don't so it wouldn't be fair to say it does, or does not, work.
