In Her Skin

UNFORGETTABLE!
One of the best movies I have ever seen. The acting is SUPERB!! I finally bought it on DVD because it was no longer available to stream. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for an unforgettable experience. You will not soon get it out of your head. The scene between Sam Neil’s character and his daughter is gut-wrenching! And then there’s Miranda Otto, who is awesome in any film. A MUST SEE!!!!!

Dark Disturbing & Disgusting True Crime
For those complaining INS revealed little about the 15 yr. old dancer, this is called In Her Skin. It's supposed to be through the eyes of the killer. Also, how much deeper could they go with a 15 yr old beautiful dancer in love and having a sexual relationship with her b/f and hiding it from her parents?Although the story didn't flow as well as it could have, the acting was phenomenal. The movie is seen through the eyes of Caroline Reed. She plays the role so believably it's disturbing. Judging from the parents' comments, behavior growing up, she's a psychopath. It seems little was done and the parents existed in a state of denial. The actual murder scene was one of the most disturbing I've seen. Caroline plays the role of a disgusting, loner, self-hating, angry Psychotic woman willing to go to any length for her parent's approval. It had to be difficult to love her and they seemed to have difficulty doing so.The police were useless except for one detective. They were useless. This was obviously planned first-degree murder. Australia gave her 20 yrs. What could possibly warrant life without parole? Her 20 yrs. should be close to over. Do they release her back into society? The acting is the best part of the film. The murder scene is rather brief and likely more realistic than Holloywood's versions. It was disgusting to watch. A senseless murder by yet another person belonging to a mental institute. Apparently, socialized medicine is even worse than in America when it comes to mental health care.

All in all I love this movie
Although this movie is based on a true crime story and very disturbing it is one of my favorites. I cried and was upset so it's definitely an emotional movie but very well acted and just makes you wonder why people do the things they do and why. All in all I love this movie. You get a view inside the victim's life, her family, and also the psycho killer and her family. Brilliant movie!! Love love love it!!!!

Truly repugnant, nihilistic swill.
Who is this film for? The surviving family members of the murdered girl, who get to watch a lingering, protracted scene re-enacting their daughter's horrific final moments? Or is it to raise awareness of the results of undiagnosed mental illness, depicted here with sneering sensationalism and not an ounce of nuance? Is it a scolding screed against absentee parenting, portrayed in a borderline cartoonish manner to drive the point home, as truly every scene the killer's father is in ends with him needing to leave to tend to meetings at work? No, it is none of these. All it is is 100 minutes of grief and misery porn. It neither honors the dead nor respects the issues which ate away at the perpetrator's fragile psyche. Nor does it remotely justify its existence.

So sad
Mental illness is so scary and the fate of this young girl is heartbreaking for both families involved.

CHILLING
What a tragic story! Caroline Reid Robertson so clearly needed to be committed to a mental institution years before she murdered Rachel Barber. The movie is an excellent portrayal of the case, and the actress who plays Caroline is fantastic

Shoulda murdered her coworkers.
And/Or that Dad of hers. Gals got my sympathies. Sux the ballerina had to take it. Great flick. Hope it's more subtle message isn't lost on you people. Be careful who you take for granted and never blowoff your depts. Bitch just might be an approaching psycho shitstorm.

Disappointing
One would have expected a story of murder and betrayal between two young friends to be more interesting but the movie is way too focused on the psychology of a fat, whiny little loser girl who really needs a good beating.

Was Ruth Bradley abliefert, ist allergrösste Schauspielkunst. True story close to home
I lived in the area and my children went to the same primary school.A chilling reminder of how ones actions impacts on others in both negative, Caroline's response to her family situation, and positive ways, the Missing persons officer who finally took the parents seriously.Well acted and filmed fairly close to " on location" where the events actually took place.

German writing - frustrating!
The information at the end of the film was written in German so I had no idea what sentence the murderer got. This being an Australian film based on a true story, I would have thought the information to be in English!
