Q: Is it okay to use for gasoline instead of oil?

No clue, I’d imagine it would be since diesel (heating oil) & gasoline are stored similarly

Q: will it work for a 500 gallon horizontal tank 48"OD ?

If the tank is the same height as the 275 gallon tank but wider I would think it would work
