Some tips to share and great customer service experience
The robot cleans my 30K cubic foot in-ground pool extremely thoroughly, except for the sun deck which I expected, and is easy to clean out. Here are some tips I learned along the way.1. Buy this instead of the Dolphin CC Supreme if you have a light plaster pool. The Supreme was my first purchase and as others have described, the black plastic housing can leave black streaks on the plaster. Yes it can be scrubbed off, but it takes a lot of time and effort with a metal brush or sponge. The Sigma doesn't have this issue since it has a white plastic body.2. The bad news; unlike this Supreme, the Signma would get stuck on the VGB main drain. The reason is that the Supreme has a center brush, whereas the Sigma only has the two front and back brushes which aren't able to push it off the drain.3. Customer service was very responsive and pleasant by email and they first sent a list of solutions for the owner such as moving the float arms forward or drain modifications that can be purchased separately. However, these solutions either didn't work or were not available for our specific drain (MDX-R3). Some of the forums also suggest adding another float or putting teflon on the bottom but these seemed janky for a $1,500 robot. Maytronics then suggested I send the unit in to have a 3rd center brush installed! I was very happy about this as now I would have the same brush configuration as the Supreme but no streaks. I sent it to their repair center out of state and it was shipped back within a couple of weeks. The robot now works flawlessly with no issues getting stuck on the drain and no reduction in the cleaning efficiency. Although it took time and would have rather have had it work right out of the box I need to give kudos to the great Maytronics customer service team!4. Some improvements could be made: The "massive" cartridges are actually not so large and can be filled quickly if there are a lot of leaves (usually after a storm). There is only one cleaning mode at 2.5 hours whereas the Supreme had several including a shorter 1.5 hour cycle. This seems like an unnecessary "nerf" to an expensive robot. The app is not stable and often needs to be closed and reopened before it will connect to the servers. There is no alert for a full cartridge that is available on some of their other models. Finally, ADD THE THIRD brush so other owners don't have the drain issue.

The best pool cleaner I have owned. I’m on number 4
I am one month in on this cleaner and so far I am very impressed. This is my fourth pool cleaner that I have purchased in my 22 years of having my pool. My last cleaner was a dolphin Triton Ps plus. It gave up about three months out of warranty .It was an adequate cleaner but lacked suction and it’s maneuverability was clumsy. The sigma excels where the triton just could not. I have a 18 x 36 pool with a deep end of 8 ft. When the cleaner is at the deepest part of the pool you can see the water stirring on the surface . It really has a tremendous amount of suction. It climbs the walls very well and does and excellent job of cleaning the water line. It does get caught on my main drain from time to time but so has every cleaner that I have owned. The filters hold a lot of debris and they are simple to clean. I have many trees around so my pool can accumulate quite a bit of trash on the bottom. The sigma seems to have to pool clean about half way through its cycle ,which with the other cleaners I have had it usually took two. The other cleaners I have owned ,the cable would get twisted and impart the unit. So far I have had no tangles with the sigma. Very easy to use , just put it in and push the button. The controls from the app are pretty good. There is a little lag between the phone and the cleaner but it doesn’t take much time to get used to it. I had this feature on my last cleaner and never really used it. This is the heaviest cleaner I have had but my wife doesn’t seem to have a problem pulling it up out of the pool. I do recommend getting a caddy for it. It will make storage and movement much easier. It also helps protect the brushes from getting damaged. I would highly recommend this cleaner from my experience so far. Hopefully it will last longer than my last one.

For the most part, the performance is very good
I have been pleasantly surprised that, after my first week of ownership, the Sigma has effectively achieved my primary goal: combatting algae. I have used the ultra-fine filters at all times. I GoPro'd the Sigma's first dip, and you can see the algae on the left side of the pool before things got started.ALGAE REMOVAL: The first session did a good job of removing the algae, the fine dirt and debris. However, it wasn't until after the 3rd session that I was fully satisfied. I swim daily with goggles, so I know what's on the pool bottom and what's not. The ultra-fine filters catch a good deal of what the suction and brushes remove, but not all of it. What is not captured by the filters is dispersed into the water column, making the pool slightly cloudy. It was then up to my pool filter to remove the particulate matter, which it did over the course of a few days.COVERAGE: The Sigma careens around the pool like a drunken sailor fleeing a sigmoidoscopy. It attacks the walls and tile when it feels like it, which is occasionally. The walls seem to be pretty clean nonetheless. I'm not standing there watching it for 2 1/2 hours, so maybe I'm missing something. What I can say is that the Sigma has an aversion to my pool steps. It could be that the ultra-fine filters have reduced the suction to the point that its climbing ability suffers. I've got a call into the Maytronics engineering department to get an answer to that one.REMOTE CONTROL: There is none. The connectivity between your phone and the power module drops as soon as you walk a few steps away. I should have asked the Maytronics engineering department about this, but I forgot. I'm doing fine without the remote feature, but it would be nice to have.THE MANUAL: If you are the least bit confused about how to operate the Sigma, I suggest you assume the lotus position, close your eyes, and meditate upon it. The manual is not going to help you.

Hangs up on pool drain EVERYTIME!
I read about this pool cleaner and loved everything I heard. However, many people mention how it gets hung up on the floor drain in their pool.I figured that they must be idiots and not know how to do things right, so I bought one anyway. Now I realize, that they were offering sage advice! This unit does a great job of cleaning but can never finish a complete cycle without getting hung up on the floor drain.I reached out to their customer support and tried everything to suggested, to no avail. The only thing that I can see would possibly work, is to have a cover that goes over my floor drains to create a more gentle slope for the unit to ride over.I purchased a set on Amazon and went to install them. They are hideous looking and ruined the complete look of our pool. They measure nearly 24 in in diameter and are bright white when my pool is dark blue. They brag about how their unit has a GPS system built into it for accurate pool cleaning. If it has a GPS unit built into it, why is it not smart enough to know to avoid the drains after getting hung up on them repeatedly for over 6 months now.All in all, it is a terrific job of cleaning and scrubbing the walls. However, if it gets stuck on the pool drain, it is useless to me.Unfortunately, I believe I will have to sell this and go back to my previous type of unit.

Awesome pool vacuum
No pool company would ever keep my pool vacuumed to my satisfaction, no matter what I paid for service. I went into a local pool store to inquire about an automatic pool vac and there were so many options I was overwhelmed! Vac line powered, electric, and a dozen price tiers for any of them. I saw this and couldn’t imagine what would make a pool vacuum $1600 so I dug down the rabbit hole and reviews sold me on it. I’m happy with it overall aside from a couple annoyances. Firstly, it definitely does not make it up out of the water to clean the scum line, that honestly shouldn’t be listed as a feature unless my unit is defective. Second, and more annoyingly, it gets stuck on the drains EVERY CYCLE. Not once has it ran a full cycle without getting stuck early on. It is super easy to grab the line anywhere and give a little tug to get it rolling again. Automation works well and the WiFi/app integration is cool. Don’t forget to clean the filter bags often as it wil stop cleaning all together and won’t even attempt to climb walls if the filters are even mildly full. I’d give it 5 stars if it didn’t get stuck on the drain every time it runs.
