This is a helpful tool if you grill at night. We've had other attachable lights but don't seem to last long. This is an easy one handed tool. If I had one change, I would prefer that the end of the tong be flat so it slides under the meat more easily and doesn't poke the meat (and release the juices). Great for veggies though.

I saw one of these at a friends house and thought it was an excellent idea so I bought one. Works like a charm and, once you remove the flashlight, goes in the dishwasher great, and it’s a great product.

What happened to the LED flashlight? Big box with a product box that was opened! Must of been a return!!! Sad!

The video is for a very different model of the same brand, the ChefGiant Tonglite Spatula and Retractable Tongs. This product is the ChefGiant BBQ Grill Tongs. I reduced my star rating by one star for this error. Otherwise the tongs themselves would have received a 5 star rating. This is not the first time I have complained about incorrect, misleading, or confusing product descriptions. Again, I suggest some sellers pay closer attention to the accuracy of their product descriptions, as the descriptions, photos, and videos are the main way buyers determine whether they want the product or not.That said, these are wonderful tongs. They are solidly built, and the stainless steel tongs appear to be high quality. They are fairly lightweight, weighing 10 ounces.The tongs can be locked with a button and easily released by squeezing the handles (SEE VIDEO). They are a perfect length for working with very hot coals or flame.The end of the tongs that holds the food has an unusual shape that should provide a better grip than ordinary tongs, especially for chicken, ribs, or steaks. For some foods, such as fish or burgers, a spatula might be better. The food-holding ends of the tongs (where the tines are) are 2 1/4 inches wide and 3 inches long (SEE PHOTO).The metal part of the tongs are very solidly attached to the hard plastic base. (SEE PHOTO)The handles are made of a soft, rubberized material that flexes slightly when squeezed and provides a soft grip.The best part of these tongs is the attached flashlight. The flashlight is adequately bright. It can be easily removed and reinserted in the holder, but fits snugly and will not fall out. It takes a AA battery (included). (SEE PHOTOS)Overall, these are high quality tongs that function well and make life easier when BBQing at night. The next time, though, I might consider the model that is incorrectly shown in the video, as it combines both a spatula with a tong for better versatility.

Maybe because I’m Australian I grill a lot - nothing beats a medium rare steak on the barbie (not shrimp - and if it was they’d be prawns). In any event, because of this I take my outdoor cooking utensils seriously. When I saw these tongs with a built-in flashlight, I figured it was a neat idea and I wanted to given them a try.This is a high quality product. I personally like the locking mechanism whereby you can open and close the tongs by releasing the small red knob near the handle. In addition, the handles are well designed to fit your hand and make flipping the meat very easy. Of course, the flashlight is the main attraction - it is quite bright and does a good job of lighting up the cooking surface directly on the item being cooked. My general cooking area is lit but having the light directed onto the cooking surface is actually helpful. The instructions note that the tongs are dishwasher safe but remember to remove the flashlight before doing so (I guess some people need to be told?) but I generally hand wash any BBQ items.You can purchase cheaper tongs that do the job but the flashlight, although seeming a little gimmicky, is actually helpful.

As a person who grills, BBQs and smokes year round, I don’t how many times I have struggled to flip something on the grill, while adding seasoning, all while trying to get enough light on my workspace to see what I’m doing. Or holding the kettle lid in one hand, the tongs in the other, and squinting to see how my roast is looking. After having a chance to use these tongs a couple of times, this is what I thought about them:• Well made – nothing loose fitting or cheap feeling.• The flashlight does a decent job of lighting up the grill – especially what I am picking up. It could stand to have a little whiter tone though.• Removing and Installing the flashlight is very easy, yet it is securely held in the handle.• The tongs get a much better bite than most tongs I’ve used.• Great for firmer foods like steak or chicken, not great for softer foods like fish, burgers or vegetables.• The wide handle provides a good grip.• The hinge lock is easy to operate and stays closed when hung-up or stored.Overall, I am pleased with these tongs and they do solve my long-standing problem of not having enough hands, so I recommend them.
