Everyone Should Spend Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed
Anna Campbell is truly a terrific writer. For those of us long in the romance tooth, she's akin to the Elaine Coffmans and Elizabeth Lowells of the genre. Since others have commented extensively on the plot, I won't. What I will comment on is every other aspect that I find worthy, since I'm a writer myself. There's predictable romance, romance that includes complete surprises with tons of plot twists, and romance that develops at a steady pace. I'd say this falls between predictable (most are by default) and more towards steady romance. What drives this book is plenty of character development and tension between the characters. I loved them both and for me, that's saying a lot. Ms. Campbell relies on a variety of literary devices to carry readers along and vivid description is one. The setting is the somewhat predictable device of a gray, almost gothic estate with the typical dark and stormy night beginning but Ms. Campbell manages to make all that fresh somehow. And how. It's Beauty and the Beast with a contest of wills thrown in. Yes, it's been done but not this way...not quite.Ms. Campbell also exceeds at dialogue. In fact, it's the thing that first drew me to her as a reader. Most of her characters talk and by that, I mean really converse. Sure, there's lovemaking galore (I should note this is not a "clean" book but a spicy one, for those who care about this sort of thing) but in between, there's honest, witty dialogue. The heroine isn't a sap. The hero has issues but there are reasons for them. Between the two characters, they manage to hash things out, not just in the bedroom, but with actual clothes on. Gotta love that in a story line.Yes, there's angst. Yes, there is miscommunication between the characters that seems a bit overreached but I'll remind consumers of the genre: it's a romance novel. Guaranteed happy ending and the generally expected trouble before the characters get there, sure. However, Ms. Campbell's vivid portrayal of the setting, her plot narrative, her portrayal of the main characters, make this a heck of a good romping read. Pick it up. See what entertainment seven nights in some rogue's bed will get you.

So much to love. So much to hate.
Oh boy, did I have a real love-hate relationship with this book. There’s so much wrong with it and so much right with it.The plot, a take on beauty and the beast with secondary characters that have screwed with the main characters lives, is weak and merely an excuse for the two to have sex. I do love forced proximity though so I’m trying not to be too hard on it. It’s rather predictable, a little on the boring side, and melodramatic. Nearly all the emotional development happens through sex. And worst of all, the heroine is annoying and infuriating.I should hate this book. But I loved it!The hero made this book. His heart went pitter patter, and so did mine. Jonas Merrick’s face is hideously scarred from a cruel childhood incident. Despite his outward appearance, this man is sexy as hell. It’s not just his face that’s scarred, he’s scarred to the depths of his soul. He’s all tough on the outside but meltingly tender on the inside. He’s had a hard life. He’s alone and just wants to be loved. No, he needs to be loved. Desperately. And his heart does flip flops for Sidonie practically from page one. I adore him. I adore him for how hard he fell for the heroine. For his complete inability to maintain his tough exterior around her. For his ever growing desire to do right by her when he’s spent his whole life doing wrong. For his sweetness and brightness that he tries to hide behind a sad and lonely darkness. The best thing about Sidonie is that she’s capable of loving a man like Jonas. He needed to be touched and cherished. He needed someone who was unafraid of him, unintimidated by him, who wasn’t appalled by his scars. He needed someone to see his goodness and prove to him that he was worthy of being loved. I hate to minimize a woman to what she can do for a man, but holy hell, I really didn’t like her very much so I’m just appreciating her for making this man happy, because he so deserved it.That’s not to say he didn’t do anything for her. Sidonie was afraid of being controlled by men, for good reason based on what we know about her background. Jonas, who was supposedly a tyrant, was the last person in the world to ever try and control her. He’s so good for her. But oh my god, she was so annoying. She’s extremely wishy-washy. She can’t make up her mind about anything and goes back and forth on her decisions. She’s constantly cursing his advances and pushing him away and then when he withdraws she feels rejected and disappointed. She’s stubborn beyond reason and for the first half of the book every interaction between them is an infuriating battle of wills, far past the point of necessity. And even after Jonas has shown her, repeatedly, that he can be trusted, that he truly cares for her, that he’s not a monster or any of the things she feared or that people say about him, she still holds this secret from him because she’s afraid he will do her family wrong if he knew the truth. It was infuriating. There is one scene, one, where I loved her. She finally stops being this Namby-pamby, wishy-washy, frightened, mixed-signal sending, argumentative, girl and transforms into a woman who actually knows what she wants, what she needs, and even more touchingly, what she needs to do to turn Jonas completely inside out. She forces Jonas to face his fears and feelings and weaknesses and to give up control in what turns out to be an incredibly passionate and emotional love scene. And right when I think she’s about to change, she goes right back to questioning his moral character. After all they’d been through and all he’s shown her, she still doubts him and betrays him and I hated her for that.Still, these two were somehow great together. The love scenes were hot and emotional and the steaminess was well mixed up with so many feels tugging at my heart. These two had an aching desire that was quite palpable. This one particular scene where Jonas felt his heart breaking I was crushed right alongside him. Damn, he just wanted her so bad, and not just for sex. He was tumbling headlong into love. I got feels from him for literally the entire book.Unfortunately, the end took abit of a turn to crazy town and pulled me out of what had been a truly beautiful romance. And I could go on and on about a number of other things that I hated about this book. But the feels from the hero, and even some from the heroine, were so stellar that I’d suffer it all again for these things that I loved. And it’s for that reason that I’m giving this book 4 stars. The spectacular feels and beautiful romance completely outshined the weak plot and infuriating heroine.

Very Enjoyable!
I really enjoyed this and loved the main characters! Jonas was initially painted as a selfish and bad character but we see he's a much better person then even he believes. I love Sidonie as well, she makes a couple of mistakes in her dealing with Jonas towards the end by withholding important information from him and breaking a promise but she had her reasons. She was a strong character and I loved watching Jonas break down her resistance towards him and then Sidonie turning the tables and beating his defences down! They were meant to be and made each other better people. I didn't much like the little we seen of Sidonie's older sister Roberta. Obviously William (Jonas's cousin) was the villain of the story and he was easy to hate given his treatment of people. I did like Jonas's old school chums Cam and Richard though we only seen a little of them!

What a well written story...
This book captured my interest from page 1...I was completely taken in from the very first. I sat and read it from cover to cover in one session, and did nothing else all day. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good solid story with a feelgood factor, and of course the obligatory happy ending.Lock the door, take the phone off the hook and start reading!

This is the first book of have read by this writer....it certainly won't be my last ...it's now the middle of the night but I had to finish it. It kept me enthralled from the first page until the last. The characters were well described, easy to believe and to fall on love with. A wonderful story line!

A Good Read
Quite a bit different from the normal scene of this type of book. Enjoyed it very much. A woman who takes her sister's place to pay off gambling debts, she must spend a week with a man who's face is horribly scared. He is so used to people being repulsed by his face and is in for a shock when she takes no notice of it. Enjoy reading this as much as I did.

Seven Nights in a Rogues Bed
When I saw the title I did not expect much but I was pleasantly surprised, the plot was different from the usual fan wafting ballrooms scenes, and I thought the young heroin very brave trying to defend her sister and nephews by offering to pay her sisters debt, all in all a most enjoyable tale, well done Anna Cambell.

Character Study
I thoroughly enjoyed the development of the interaction between the two main characters. The various forces that were at work which changed the nature of the relationship and which resulted in the plot taking an unexpected turn but reaching an outcome which w.as expected but in doubt until the end
