great holiday read
took this book along with a few other short stories on holiday, and it made ideal holiday reading. i find short stories are good for holidays - just right for a couple of hours on the beach or at the pool. these three are among my favourite authors so a good buy as far as i am concerned.

One City review
I bought this book for Irvine Welsh's contribution, but was interested to read the others. I've not read Rankin or McCall Smith before, so didn't know what to expect from them.Overall - it's a good little book for a fairly quick read. I enjoyed all three stories - espcially Welsh's, although I am biased. All fairly unusual tales, with a good mix of style. It's a shame JK Rowling didn't contribute a story - her intro is interesting, but very short.

Writing inside.
Someone had written inside the book with a silver pen, therefore, I don't think it was in 'very good condition' or 'as new' etc.

More Murrayfield than Morningside
Quirky and varied short pieces introduced by J.K Rowling. Not exactly a shared theme, other than Edinburgh life and maybe the plight of the newcomer to it. Very slim volume produced in aid of a charity, but the contributions are thoughtful and better quality than one would usually expect. Not what I would call a keeper, but handbag friendly and enough to raise a smile on the tube (it even weighs less than a kindle!). Some bad language from Welsh, so not one for the kind of sensitive souls who might enjoy McCall Smith's mysteries.
