How do i know this has upf 50 protection? i don't see that claim on the packaging

These are 100% polyester shirts. Ultraviolet is a very short wavelength so the shirt thinness shouldn't be an issue, but even if hanes is exaggerating the UPF claim it's going to be far better than sunscreen in almost all scenarios. If you have a particular skin cancer risk you are going to want to get clothing with the skin cancer foundation seal of approval. A cotton shirt is going to provide like upf 5, which is 5x as much time to burn. Even if outside a lab these are upf 20-30 which would be more inline with a normal polyester shirt (these are certainly some sort of tight weave to get the upf claim) it's going to completely remove your burn risk. The FTC enforces false advertisement claims, but there isn't a US government entity enforcing upf testing standards. If 50+ upf is an absolute must have I would look for a brand that specializes in sun protection or send a sample to a lab for testing. If I had to guess these are right around 50 so they can plausibly claim it was 50+ when shipped.

Does the shirt smell bad after one wear? I'm planning on using it on a 2-week camping trip in a tropical climate with no opportunity to wash it.

Last year on a two week trip to French Polynesia, I wore the two long sleeved shirts nearly everyday for outside activities. The shirts were very comfortable and functional with their sun screen properties. Wuite satisfies with the wear and tear and if the were smelly, I didn't notice and my friends and family either didn't notice a smell or were to tactful to bring it up. Give it a shot you are on vacation.

Just bought 4 shirts in lrg. Im 5'9 183lbs will this be a good fit?

Should be perfect. I bought large and I'm 5'9" and 190.

I heard polyester can bring out body odor. Anyone had this problem with this shirt?

My husband and i both wear these while working outside and on our bike rides and walks. So far no odor detected! We love them!!!

Is it really UPF 50 + Shirt

It was difficult to decide which size to order. I ordered Medium as My Indian shirt size is 40. It has turned out to be a bit larger for me. Mainly I wanted UPF 50 + product..so took all the touble to check with Amazon and got it from Amazon USA. But the there is no mention of UPF on the Product as such..So nto sure of the UV light protection that I was mainly looking for.

I purchased Hanes Men's Long Sleeve Cool DRI T-Shirt UPF 50-Plus in royal blue for my husband. The shirt fits well and is cool to wear when it's hot out and doesn't stick to your skin. My husband wears it for work as he is a carpenter working outside and the sun gets too hot for him. His arms gets red, blistery and itchy so the long sleeves are perfect for him. The shirt is easy to wash in delicate cycle, warm water and I hang it to dry. I am so glad I was able to find these for him as it's hard to find men's beach cover ups and has to be practical too.

Je n'ai reçu qu'un tshirt sur deux. Celui reçu n'était ni de la marque Hanes, et encore moins de la qualité requise pour assurer la norme UPF50. Et cela est un scandale total, car on achète pas de l'UPF50 juste parce qu'on veut payer plus Vendeur contacté de multiples fois, très compliqué au niveau de l'échange ou du refund ; en fait je n'ai jamais rien compris à ce qu'ils voulaient. Cela s'est terminé par Amazon qui a pris la chose en main et m'a remboursé.
