Sum up
Purchased this to teach the young adults and grandchildren a different method of calculating.Something I had learned at primary school more than a few years ago. This is a basic instrument, it needs to be placed upon a flat surface when in use, as the counters move around just a little to easy for my liking. The reset is a good idea, something my old wooden one didn't have, although it was simple enough to reset manually. The issue with the reset though is it does not push all the counters fully home, leaving them floating close to the home positions, this is not helpful when counting. This is a decent machine for initially teaching the concept to a beginner. It is good for the price but must be taken in that light. If you want a machine for proper counting and general use. I would go with, 'you get what you pay for.'Summary, it works, it counts, it does have a reset. Useful for teaching not great as a calculator as the counters slide to easily, they are a little to light with not enough resistance to movement.
