Works great and is easy to operate
After comparing reviews on just about every vacuum sealer on Amazon.com, I bought this Foodsaver 2461. I'm glad I did. It works well. This has been a great way for me to save money on my breakfast and lunch. I commute to work in a high-cost area where I used to spend about $6 for breakfast and $8-$10 for lunch. I always had good intentions of packing my food before I leave the house but I get up at 4:00am and am out the door by 4:45. I just don't have time in the morning to fix food for the day and I don't like having to always take leftovers from the night before. Sometimes I want to eat something different. So - at first I started buying popular frozen food entrees but they have tons of artificial stuff and too much salt. Plus, even when on sale they are about $2 to $2.50 each and don't fill me up. Also, there aren't a lot of healthy frozen choices for breakfast. Sure, I could eat instant oatmeal (and I do sometimes) but even that gets old quickly.Fortunately, with the Foodsaver 2461, I have been able to prepare enough breakfast and lunch entrees for several weeks at a time and freeze them with no problem. So now I just grab two meals in the morning when I head out and then throw them in the microwave at work when I'm ready to eat. For breakfast, I've made and frozen burritos (eggs, cheese, sausage, peppers, tortilla), spinach frittatas (spinach quiche without the crust) and sausage patties, omelettes, etc. and they have all reheated well with the Foodsaver and other vacuum sealer bags I've tried. As a result, I now only spend about $5 a day TOTAL for breakfast and lunch (as opposed to $14-$16 a day) and I have much healthier meals. I typically use all natural and organic ingredients with very little salt and sugar, so the Foodsaver allows me to eat better while at work than I was before. The only issue I have, and this is minor, is that when operating the Foodsaver, you have to place the open top part of the bag in the middle of the vacuum sealer part of the appliance. If you place the bag so that it covers the entire opening for the vacuum part in the inside of the Foodsaver, then it can't suck out the air and you won't be able to complete a seal. I learned that after two tries. Once you figure that out, the Foodsaver 2461 is very easy and quick to use. It's a tad bit loud but you only have to use it for about 20 secs at a time so the noise isn't a big deal for me.The Foodsaver 2461 is definitely work it.

Incredible vacuumed, sealed bags ready to cook in!
I usually wait until I've used a product for a period of time before reviewing it, but I couldn't wait on this. In a word, WOW!! Incredible sealed bags, unexpected vacuuming power, and when I was done with my first bag of leftover brisket I was absolutely amazed at the finished bag and the quality of the finished product. I am cooking it now in my Sous Vide oven so we'll know soon how they work. If things change I'll update this review, but as it stands now I highly recommend this product.

Edited review!
I have to edit my original 5 star review. This machine was great until it pooped out shortly after purchase. It does vacuum and it does seal, but it certainly won't do both after the first two months of light use. I'm totally disappointed, but it's out of warranty. SAVE YOUR MONEY and look elsewhere.

great sealer, a must have
I reallyl ike this vacuum sealer, i just bought another one, and had the first one for 2 years with really heavy use. it was still in great shape, but i sold it before i moved away from Alaska, as i figured when i wasnt fishing every other day i wouldnt really need it anymore! i was dead wrong, once you get accostomed to using one, you cant live without it!It really makes everyday things you woukd normally just stick in a bag last so much longer and stay so much fresher! I always like to buy the bigger things of chicken breast from the counter even when i only need one or 2, then vac up the rest and throw them in the freezer.Right after my wife gave birth a friend brought us over a huge costco thing of red vines and i sealed those things up in a bunch of different pouches so they stayed soft and fresh. done the same with a huge thing of peanuts, and other random stuff too.Anyway, once we got down here we decided we couldnt live without a vacuum sealer, so we decided just to buy this one again since we knew it worked great! It doesnt have all the bells and whistles as some of the more expensive ones, but it really does a great job, and even comes with the tube attachment for some of the other sealing options. One issue that we did have with this sealer, is that for a little while i was storing it with the latch locked, and noticed that when i did that it wasnt getting a good seal when packing things, and i had to apply some pressure to the lid to get it to do its thing. Once i stopped storing it like that i had no more issues, so as a tip, so not store it with the lid locked and you wont have any issues. i think it must compress down some of the foam and rubber tubing.I think this unit is a great entry level unit with some extras, and it holds up well to a lot of use, i would recommend this unit over almost any other sealer.

It keeps my freezer food from frost burns and works easily.
I've tried others but I really like the Foodsaver. It works just as it says. It's great for storing fish and burgers in the freezer. I also store some vegetables in the freezer, but I usually keep them in the bin. I haven't tried all the features yet, I've only used the ones I needed.

Nice product, does its job quite nicely
Nice product, does its job quite nicely. But it didn't come with the following (as advertised):Includes 11-inch-wide bag roll, 3 quart-size bags, 2 gallon-size bags, and Accessory Port to use with vacuum hose (included) for all FoodSaver containers and accessoriesAlmost makes me wonder if this was second hand. Maybe the previous buyer kept these accessories and returned the unit.Forgot to mention when I opened the lid, the seal was nearly falling apart. Had to stuff it back into the crevasse.

Worked great a few times and then kaput
Worked great a few times and then kaput. Have to push down to get a vacuum, single seals do not hold
