Not worth upgrading for me... heavy, limited access to power switch on camera
This thing was way heavier than the GoPro 3 and 4 compatible Feiyu-Tech gimbals and requires a special washer weight to balance out the new GoPro 5... I was disappointed that when the camera is in, you cannot turn it on or off because the power button is blocked by the gimbal. It's a lot of work to take the camera out each time you want to power on or take the memory card out etc. and that's frustrating. Most of this complaint has to do with the new GoPro design and not Feiyu but it still resulted in me not being able to use the gimbal as easily or comfortably as older models. I would not recommend it, consider the official GoPro Karma Grip gimbal or stick with the older models and miss out on water resistance and image stabilization... Come on GoPro :(

Great power battery durability
a little tilt problem - I expect it would be fixed in software update. Great power battery durability.

Smooth video and an easy set up
Hard to beat Feiyu Tech. Big fans of these gimbals. Worked perfectly once set up properly.

Unfinished product, not yet ready for prime time!
Pros: pretty much what you can see in any advertisement of this product, splash proof, selfie button, etc.Cons: Here's what I found this product to be missing the mark at when used with a GoPro Hero 5 Black1- Horrible motor noise picked up by the camera, making the audio of anything you shoot with this gimbal pretty much useless. This is a serious deal-breaking issue that has been reported with other GoPro 5-compatible gimbals on the market, including GoPro's own Karma. I was hoping the FeiYu G5 was going to be different in that regard. Unfortunately it is not.2- Terrible user manual that includes not only typos and grammatical errors, but also misleading information like how to connect the camera to the gimbal so the camera can be charged while the gimbal is on! You CANNOT CONNECT THIS CAMERA TO THE GIMBAL, despite what the manual says. There simply is no outlet on the Gimbal that allows one to do that. One picture on FeiYu's website does show a G5 with an outlet to do that on one of the motor housings. That outlet simply does not exist on the gimbal I received. One possibility is that FeiYu started by designing the gimbal to be able to charge the camera and made advertisement material and a manual that show this functionality, then they changed their mind and scrapped that function but forgot to, or simply didn't care to change the picture on the website and the manual. Another possibility is that this is a newly added feature that they quickly put a picture of on their website and added a description of to the manual but they're still shipping older G5's without that functionality, like the one I got.3- Overall cheap looks and feel for a $300 gimbal, starting with the box and ending with the gimbal itself4- Updating the firmware (which the manual says should be the first thing to do) is impossible. There are supposedly 2 ways one could do this. One could download the software from FeiYu's website. Well, the only G5 software on the website that I found was a zipped file with Android application material in it. I could not find anything that looked like firmware for the G5. If it's there, it must be mislabeled because I could not find it. The second way to update the firmware is supposedly through the App (called FY Settings). Well, there is only one app on the App Store called FY Settings and it looks like the app the manual is talking about. Problem is, the app is unfinished. You open it and it goes to only one screen that allows the app to search for other FeiYu products, but not the G5. And this being the only screen on the app, there's nothing one can do with it. So, I really don't know how one can update the firmware of this device.5- The app that is supposed to be a fantastic way of not only updating the software but also controlling the gimbal remotely is not operational yet (see item 4), at least not the iOS one.6- The G5 page of the FeiYu website is unfinished. The only active tabs are the Overview, Downloads, and Specs tabs. The Pictures, Videos, and Tutorials tabs all lead to empty web pages! So, while this product is promising, it clearly is not yet ready for prime time. It looks like the company released it too early just to make it available for the holiday shopping season. With some attention to fixing mistakes and further development (to hopefully fix the deal-breaking issue with the audio, and to finish the iOS app and the website), this might become a viable Gopro 5-compatible gimbal. Till then, I for one don't think it is. Buyer beware! Mine is going back.

Don't buy the G5. You will be sorry.
I searched extensively to find a gimbal set up for Gopro Hero 5. The G5 being relatively new there are not so many reviews. After receiving and having numerous issues with the one I purchased I went back online and began to find exactly the same problems being described. The gimbal would drift as you used it. There was frequent grinding noises. Some positions made the gimbal move very jerky. Also it was rather easy to put the gimbal in position that lack enough clearance thus the camera hit the motor. In fact when I dig even deeper yet the G5 and possibly other Feiyu Tech gimbals have issues with the brushless motors they use. My judgement is that they have some serious design and or material selection problems making Feiyu Tech a very risky purchase. What bugs me is the number of good reviews yet with what I know now I suspect many of these good reviews are not actually tested against other equipment. There are several positives of what Feiyu Tech tried to offer in the G5. Yet I now know it falls very short and I returned the product. Another lesson learned is watch who you buy from. Some sources come from Asia even if the name makes you believe different. In my case I had to be nasty to get a return/refund plus I had to pay return shipping. IMO this gimbal is a nice try but in the end is a piece of junk.
