I had used other silica drying packets before. When freshly removed from their vapor protected packaging, one desiccant pack of my old product weighed exactly 11 grams. After leaving it in the open for 24 hours, it weighed 13 grams. After that no more change in weight. This means that the product absorbed 2 grams of water from the environment within the first 24 hours and reached its maximum capacity.Now I ordered a bag of 100 silica desiccant packs from "O2frepak". The product was delivered in a flimsy non-resealable plastic bag that tears easily. During transport the bag had been punctured. I tested some of the silica desiccants. Leaving them in the open for 24 h resulted in no change of weight, indicating that they didn't absorb any more moisture. I think it is a badly presented product because of the cheap packaging. I also think it is a bad product since the entire bag of 100 silica desiccants was probably inactive by the time they reached me. I am sending everything back.

I use these in San emergency kits, And seed vault that I put together. They are convenient because they are so small and easy to use. I just drop a few in each container and but them do their job.
