Dorman HELP! 55242 Fuel Line Filter

Works great to keep an eye on vapor lock issues. In the Texas summer, in these days of mega Ethanol content, I can look and see if it's "liquid" vs. vapor. (the Ethanol being hygroscopic and is more damaging to internal parts, corrosion, rubber, etc.) If you run a carburated vehicle in a hot climate, it's good to have eyes on your fuel supply. It's tough glass, this particular one has been banging around in my truck for a few months now. Contrary to what you hear, I haven't seen these break- in my 40+ years around carb vehicles.

Been using these glass filters on motorcycles, boats, etc for 25 plus years. The advantage is that you can quickly determine if you have fuel flow and if fuel contamination is an issue. If need be, the internal filter element is replaceable or can be cleaned. Dorman is a well known maker of aftermarket automotive components and Dorman's quality can be relied on. As another reviewer stated, don't bother with the version of these filters with the Teflon nipples. They come with a variation of sizes of nipples to allow for a variation of fuel line sizes but experience has shown that they always develop leaks and just don't seem to be of the same quality as the solid chrome ones.

Solid construction and works wel on my 72 Gran Torino 3/8” fuel line. I also like how the replacement filters are available.
