The Salewa® Wildfire Edge is a versatile technical shoe that can change from hiking shoe to climbing shoe, so your adventure never has to slow down. With the Salewa Switch system, simply tighten the laces at the back eyelet and then tie them tightly. In this way, you pull your foot forward into the toe box and compress your toes similar to a climbing shoe. When you're done climbing, loosen the laces at the back eyelet for a roomier toe box and more hiking comfort. 1.6mm suede and microfiber upper with Exa shell over an injected 3D cage for superior flexibility. 3F system provides firm ankle and heel support. Climbing Lacing System and the Salewa Switchfit System work together to provide a more precise fit and more accurate lacing in the toe area, which provides more support and allows better performance. Breathable mesh lining Customizable MFF+ footbed is the next generation of Multifit footbed technology. It allows for even adjustability of the Wildfire shoes, so you always get a perfect fit. Binding plate just below the toes for added directional rigidity. Anti-rock heel cup. POMOCA Speed MTN outsole with Butilic Compound provides grip, traction and sure-footedness when climbing technical mountain approaches, scrambles, trusses and climbing. Imported. Measurements: Weight: 0.5 kg. Product measurements were taken using size 11, width M. Please note that measurements may vary by size. The weight of the shoes refers to a single shoe, not the whole pair.

Good for short technical approaches, not distance
These are great for short technical approaches, but don’t try to go too far in them. On the continuum between climbing and hiking shoes, they are much closer to climbing. They form fit to my feet very well. They are very stiff with almost no cushion.

Ok
Color is a little crazy.

Durable and Solid footing
I'm hard on my feet at work. The first pair I got lasted a good year. They're very stable so I don't slip around as much nor do I roll my foot as I do in other shoes. The pinky toe finally broke loose so I got another.

Great shoes, ordered 10.5 Amazon shipped size 10 inside 10.5 box
These are GREAT quality versatile shoes. Excellent traction, great protection, cool look.I was in the market for crossover hiker/climber shoes.I was deciding between MID version and low version of these.Because I didn't want GTX for my summer hikes, I decided to go with low version.I measured my feet and bought according to Salewa sizing chart.I normally wear 10.5 and Salewa size chart suggested 44 (10.5) so 10.5 I ordered.I gave them a quick try at home and they felt acceptably snug and didn't feel like they needed any break in - so I took them for 2 weeks hike in Colorado. It was very first day in the mountains when I quickly realized that the shoe is actually too short. My big toes were crushing against hard rubber rand on descents so bad that I BROKE both nails on my big toes and it took me almost a YEAR to recover...I could not use them any more.Today, (a year later) I decided to dig these out from my closet to put these for sale or something.Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the shoes are actually size US 10 (EU43) ! And the box they're in says 10.5 (EU44).Amazon just shipped me WRONG size in a correct sized box!How did that happen Amazon?Attaching proof pics if Amazon ever bothers to investigate this matter.I was too naïve and didn't check the size on the shoe. And that resulted into ruined hiking experience. There you have it folks - don't trust Amazon blindly.Check the size on the shoe.

Comfortable, and keeps me sure footed in any terrain.
Walk/hike a lot. These have kept me comfortable doing 12-20 mile walks around Chicago this summer. My 3rd pair...with 3 more in my closet (blue eyes, wear a lot of blue so I like 'em)

Sturdy
Nice sturdy shoe. I took the first insole out, and really like the way they can move your toe into the toebox once you use the back eyelet. Great for scrambling over rocks.
