I'm 5'-10", 175lbs, same waist, I bought Asian XL/US L perfect tight fit. I would say you should pick the same size. Your husband's extra height won't make a difference. It sounds like we have a similar build. BTW he'll love the way he looks in this biking outfit and the 4G gel pads are a plus for comfortable rides.

I purchased an XL. I am 6'1" and 195 pounds and 34" waist. These have plenty of stretch, but too assure comfort I would order the XXL size. My opinion is your better off a little large than too small.
