Best rail available for the mini-14
If you want to use a red dot sight or other picatinny rail mounted options for your mini-14, this is the best one I have found after buying a cheaper one from Amazon and one from the Ruger store. You will not be able to use your iron sights with this rail and the extra height of the rail makes a co-aim point with the front sight very hard to achieve. This being said, none of these things are needed for a red dot sight. The cheaper one from amazon with the viewing holes for the iron sights is a piece of garbage. You can barely use the iron sights and it is impossible to use them accurately not to mention the fact that staring through a small hole in the rail completely defeats the purpose of fast target acquisition with ghost ring sights. That particular rail is also flimsy and subject to vibration movement no matter how much thread locker you put on it. The one from Ruger is scalloped to allow for easy brass ejection, but is also an overpriced piece of garbage. The CCG rail is a great value. it is only flimsy at the very end, well beyond any point where someone would reasonably mount optics. The ejected brass hits the bottom of the rail more often than not, but this is a small amount of shock compared to the actual firing process and will not affect your optics. Also, the mini-14 will eject your brass about 50 feet away from you. The brass hitting the rail usually ends up very close to the firing point and is easier to police rather than the Easter egg hunt involved when firing a mini-14 without this rail. The rotating bolt is easy to remove and install without taking the rail off, just remember that you need to be holding the bolt at about 45 degrees in relation to the receiver. If you are having too much trouble with the bolt, you can always remove the rail as long as you are using blue thread locker. I advise against this. Learn to deal with the bolt with the rail on the rifle, it might be tough at first, but after a couple of field strippings, it should be pretty easier. The rail is made of solid materials and the two pre-tightened torque bolts on the left side make it very easy to install in your rifle's scope mounts. Do not attempt to tighten or remove the bolts on the left side of the rail. There is never any need to do this, and they will probably break. I fired 500 rounds with a Sig Sauer Romeo red dot before putting thread locker on the bolts. Once the sigh was zeroed, it stayed zeroed for the entire 500 rounds. The rail was not moving. I have since put thread locker on the right hand side bolts and don't expect the rail to move in a manner that will effect accuracy out to 200 yards regardless of the number of rounds fired. This is a great product. Don't go cheap with the 14 dollar one on Amazon and don't by from the Ruger Store for a flimsy rail that does move significantly after just 100 rounds. Edit: the rail is solid, but I did notice that my red dot started drifting due to the large amount of vibration you get with a mini-14 comapared to an AR platform. I didn't notice it at first, but it slowly became a big deal. Eventually, after firing about 500 orunds, I need to adjust my red dot. This is irratating, but it is not the fault of the rail or the optics, it is the rifle. I mounted the same optice on a M and P sport II and have fired about 5000 rounds through it without much drift at all.

Tactical rail for the Mini 14
This is an excellent tactical rail for the Mini 14. It is very solid quality hardware and mounts solidly on the rifle. This rail is long enough to handle just about any accessory such as a red dot sight or scope rings. As an additional plus, this rail looks terrific on the Mini 14.This rail features excellent hardware throughout. The screws are excellent, and the mating between the rail and the proprietary Ruger mount on the Mini 14 rifle is superb. I found that the hardware stayed tight when tightened with the supplied Allen wrench -- I did not use or need Lock-Tight. I fired 200 rounds through the rifle after mounting this rail and it stayed nice and tight.Another nice fact about this rail is that contrary to what some have written, I found it possible to remove the bolt from the Mini 14 rifle while field stripping without removing the rail. It is slightly more challenging, but not overly so. (In fact, now that I have done it a few times, no problem at all.) It is nice to not have to remove the rail and possibly (or possibly not) disturb the zero on your sight.I have used this rail, and I have used the Burris rail. The hardware with the GG&G rail is noticeably better than the Burris. The Burris is a pain to mount on the Mini 14 while the GG&G can be attached and detached in a minute. Further, the Burris is good only for mounting scope rings. You can forget about just about any other Weaver/Picatinny accessory such as an EOTech red dot, for example. The Burris does not have enough real estate. (The Burris rail components have this big bump in the center that make it impossible to mount anything but scope rings.)This is a quality piece of hardware that I recommend without reservation for the Mini 14 rifle. I purchased this on April 17, 2012 and it arrived on April 24, 2012.This rail fits great on the Mini 14 but did not come with Locktite as others have mentioned. This is\was not in the description at the time I purchased this item.Included in the package are the rail with 2 mounting bolts pre-attached, torx wrench and 2 loose mounting bolts that you will need to complete the installation. There will be no leftover parts if you install this correctly.AFter installing, the rail does not budge. This is definitely solid and a good addition should you want a rail system that will fit on the proprietary Ruger scope mounts. What was Ruger thinking when they came up with that? One item of note. If you mount this rail, you will not be able to use your iron sights. The rail alone will block your view. So buying "see through" scope mounts for this is a waste. You won't ever have to remove the rail for takedown and cleaning as it doesn't obstruct any part of those tasks.A bit on the pricey side for what it is, but satisfied with the purchase overall. I would recommend for the Ruger Mini series.

Great for Mini 30
I ordered this rail for a 583+ Ruger Mini 30. Needed something to mount a Bushnell Red Dot to the rifle. The rail arrived on time and it is very sturdy and useful. Took, maybe, 10 minutes with interruptions to get it attached. I will echo what has already been said about this rail. Leave the left screws alone and attach using the two screws for the right side. Easy-peasey all the way around. The Bushnell settled right down atop the rail. Took it to the range the following weekend and got everything all sighted in. Shots at the 300 yard were no problem. The rail held solid and did its job as I hoped that it would. Note: I did not use any lock tite in this installation. Despite this fact everything was still rock solid after 2 hours of shooting. I really like it and would recommend to anyone owning a Mini 30 or 14. The rail installation makes bolt removal a challenge. However I can remove the red dot and rail combo, clean up the bolt and put it back without moving the sight zero. Two thumbs up for this GG&G product. I recommend it!
