I recently purchased the 52 Essential Critical Thinking Cards from Mind Brain Emotion and I must say, I'm extremely impressed. Love these cards, however these “critical thinking” cards are more about understanding bias and how to be a critic of your own thoughts (challenging assumptions etc), NOT about problem solving and system thinking. I should have read the description a bit better, so I’m just saying here—buyer beware!

This has been a great learning resource for both family and friends to learn and enhance so many aspects of critical thinking. It tests and teaches logic, memory, philosophy, emotional intelligence, problem solving, decision making. It really stretches the mind!! What you learn in playing the game even makes for really great conversation starters when meeting new people or even just in a lull in conversation among friends. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in making cognitive-behavioral learning actually fun and interesting.

I know… I know…. The thing is that I thought this would make a fun game as well as a learning experience. It was really just a learning experience. I know the deck to learn more and it absolutely is educational. Just lacked the fun factor I thought I would get with the deck.

Updated: I purchased all 4 deck sets: Relationships, Coping, Conversations, and Critical Thinking. I've enjoyed using the relationship cards with my husband. We've always struggled to communicate and this was a fun, nonthreatening way for us to practice better communication skills. The coping and conversation skills should be a great addition to my classroom in the fall. The reason I originally reviewed was I found these cards during my search for my district's DEIB initiatives. I'm a part of my district's DEIB PD committee, and I was searching for ways to help with our initiatives. I came across these cards, and I'm so glad I did. I plan to use these cards on one of our in-service days. They've already helped me to understand some of my own biases that I wasn't even aware of. The video on how to use the cards was also helpful in giving me some ideas for my district's training purposes. Can't wait to use them in the fall!

I cannot believe these cards are priced at 25.00 bucks considering you get no solutions to manage your crisis situation or develop your critical thinking skills. You're better off doing an internet search or asking for solutions in an online chat forum. I returned these useless cards for a refund because they offer nothing except scenarios. Yeah, I've been in plenty of crisis scenarios and scenarios where I needed to critically think about something but how am I supposed to manage or develop these skills with no additional tools or possible solutions? I can't believe these are so highly rated. I kept going through the cards thinking I'd missed something but no. They're simply scenario cards and nothing more. Save your money! 4 star deduction for these get-rich-quick cards simply because the creator wants to make an easy buck and thinks her ivy league college education is what makes these cards innovative and worth having.

This game is perfect for people who are interested in cognitive science and its biases. It will allow you to not only learn but develop and apply your newfound knowledge to real-life situations while acquiring the necessary information to prosper. My nephew and I had a good time learning by playing this game.
