I was thrilled to find this plastic screen wicket as a replacement for my old one. It fit perfectly on my window screen and was easy to install.

I was thrilled to find this widget on Amazon. It fits perfectly with the old widget on my screen which had broken. It took me less than 10 min to put the screen material piece from broken widget into this new one.

In principle, a great idea for those of us with windows that latch and open outward. In execution, these are not sturdy - for example, the tab that attaches to the aluminum screen frame is pretty thin plastic and the screw holes are too close to the edge, so it's very easy to break them during installation or use. However, until they break, they are a great solution, provided they are installed with care and precision. Once they break, they are simple to replace (again provided they were originally installed with care and precision, specifically where the screen was cut for the original installation). They are also more sturdy if a bit of slack is left in the part of the screen they enclose so as not to overly stress the plastic frame. Sunlight eventually causes the plastic to become brittle, so they will break. Plus rough handling is certainly their enemy (I'm looking at you, kids...) In our case, for years I despaired of finding replacements and would "repair" them with duct tape in the spring. And then last fall, I had the idea of checking on Amazon... and here they are. So bravo and five stars to Amazon for supplying these (and maybe a hiss and boo to our local suppliers of screen hardware who have never heard of them). For those who decide to try, make sure you have the tool for rolling the rubber strip into the channel. This would be a difficult chore otherwise.

These are hard to find these days, so I am really happy to still be able to get these. The quality is good- the plastic materials are relatively sturdy and works perfectly with my window screen. I hope they keep selling these ‘cos the plastic frame does age overtime and will need to be replaced every several years.

I only needed to replace the wicket 'door' due to the broken plastic 'hinges.' When I measured my 35 year old wicket, the dimensions were just very slightly different from the dimensions provided for this product. Sigh. I reasoned that I only needed the hinges to line up. Ordered just one to check. YESSS! The hinges are 5 5/8 inches apart, measured on center. The entire wicket matched up perfectly!!! Color difference doesn't bother me; aged plastic vs new plastic, after all. Win-win. Now I'll order more.
