The best coconut milk I've tried!
I use coconut milk in my coffee daily, and I've tried all the major brands. Not only is the price getting exorbitant, some have undesirable additives, some are waxy, and others are so thin, they are a waste of money. I was delighted to find that this brand is creamy at room temperature, but when cold, is thick, smooth & creamy without being waxy. It doesn't take much to lighten my coffee, and when cold, is wonderful over berries, fresh or frozen. Yum!

perfect after a little blending
I initially left a negative review after opening the first can with lumps of coconut in a watery base. But yesterday I tried whipping it up in a blender. Guess what! It worked, perfectly. It was lovely creamy; and it kept its consistency even after being stored in the fridge overnight. So, I'm giving it 5 stars. Just remember to blend it a bit. I do like the fact that it's pure coconut milk, without the guar gum which tend to leave a strange aftertaste for me. I also like the no BPA lining.

Best tasting so far!
The contents are very thick about 2/3's of the can and the bottom 1/3 is mostly liquid, so you do need to dump and scrape the entire can and stir it a few times. My comparison for flavor and quality is to Thai Kitchen which is the brand I used to buy mainly because of its availability. The difference is night and day. It appears AMAZON as a seller is no longer carrying this product, so I will try the organic version of Roland's brand next as it has many positive reviews as well. I paid around a dollar sixty per can which was quite a deal for this organic quality. Roland brand is currently about two dollars per can. Honestly this brand is so creamy and tasty that I use it in many things to replace milk and especially when baking Dr. Oetker's muffins. My cats enjoy it as a special treat. It is one of the few food items that has so many health benefits and tastes wonderful.

It's Different
I have bought this before and would have given it 5 stars, there is typically a near solid block of coconut cream, and every can is consistent. You couldn't even shake the can and feel anything liquid in it and that was amazing. I bought a new case the other day, and the label has changed, and the product is very watery, it didn't even firm up in the refrigerator. I still have a can of the old stuff, so it's not the weather or anything. I know that coconut milk can vary batch to batch, but this is more watery than even Thai Kitchen. It still says "Natural Value" and no BPA's, organic, etc, but the label looks almost like a child created it, I wonder if it's really the same stuff?

It's so close to being perfect, except for this one problem...
It's what I want in coconut milk: organic, supposed to be whole fat, non-bpa container, with no gum to thicken it. It tastes good. It cooks well, it works in my protein shakes, and tastes good alone. The problem is that every can had a hard layer on top that was hard to work with and tasted bad. It wasn't just hardened fat that could be blended back in. This was a hard, solid, layer that tastes like awful bitter metal. It doesn't act like fat, it acts like bad coconut pulp. I originally tried to save this layer to cook with, but it made my food taste terrible. So I had to learn to throw it away. Then the rest of the milk was kinda watery - it wasn't thick enough, even after putting it in a mason jar and shaking.4/5 stars because it's made the way I want it to be made, but I just don't know that I want to order it again. It's so hard to work with. I'm hoping my box was just a bad batch.

Adding my 5 Stars
We bought this brand at our little health food store in Idyllwild, CA never having heard of it before. By the name I was wary, thinking it might be a high-priced but cheap product. Wrong! It was absolutely delicious, very creamy and fresh tasting. Completely recommended and now I am ordering it on Subscribe and Save. One caveat: I made coconut milk tapioca pudding in both chocolate and vanilla. While both were wonderfully delicious, but I thought I would point out that a slight graininess was obvious in the vanilla version. This was not really a factor in the chocolate. Perhaps I just don't notice with chocolate because a certain graininess often shows up in chocolate puddings anyway - because of the chocolate itself. And I would say that the extremely fine graininess is also a sign that the product is pure coconut.March, 2013: they now have a BPA-free can and no guar gum. Just organic coconut and water. And yet it is so thick I spoon it into coffee (which I love) and it makes such a creamy addition to soups.

The only coconut milk worth of buying.
I have mixed feelings writing this review. The product is superb and absolutely deserves the praise, but because of everyone discovering it, it's getting almost impossible to find it anymore. This milk is what coconut milk is supposed to be, no additives, no sugar, no guar gum, and BPA free cans. It's THICK with being thicker on top of the can and more liquid closer to the bottom. One more thing - it's organic! It honestly can't get any better than this, except Natural Value could get bigger supply of it. I've had a 'pleasure' to compare this product to Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk and was left with confusion, disgust and 6 cans of absolutely inedible product. I only wish Natural Value's coconut milk becomes more available and less 'out of stock', or more companies follow their example of making a great product.

Just blend it for perfection
Update 4/27/2016:I will be removing this product from my subscribe & save plan. The coconut milk is excellent, but to get a box that is packaged with two other boxes and no damage of packages evident, yet 6 of 12 cans are badly dented, suggests the new design (green cans) must have been about cost savings, not quality. And the price had gone up! What a waste! No savings in subscribing if half are so damaged!I have used the Thai brand for years, but was getting concerned about the guar gum and the BPA in the can. So I decided to try Natural Value's Coconut Milk that is in BPA Free cans and does not have guar gum in the ingredients. It is different without the guar gum - almost, but not quite, cottage cheese effect on the non watery part of the coconut milk. I figured that was because there was no guar gum. At first I just shook the can (or container I put left over in) hard, but it did leave lumpy pieces. Then I decided to blend it - just 30 seconds or less in the Vitamix - and it made it into perfect coconut milk.
