No these are more of a toy but really bright at night.

is starlight the source of light? or does it give off light?

It gives off light this is like a toy not true infered red but very good light in darkness.

Can you wear these and see through a scope (for hunting)

Hi Fran, while I can't say 1000% for sure, I strongly doubt it. These goggles are toys, complete with a blue side light that pops out at the press of a button, and is the reason for the stated 25' distance. Hope this helps.
