THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 4 STEELBOOK ZAVVI EXCL

Astounding Season 4.
Some TV series get better and better visibly. 'TWD' has become so confident, so comfortable with its cast that it can explore areas that other series would fear to tread. There are a few episodes that almost arrest the story line and devote time and script to the interactions between just two or slightly more of the cast, exploring their characters and their immediate survival hopes while the mayhem and madness continue around them.Daryl and Beth, Rick and his son, 'The Governor' and his temporary new family, threads away from the usual plot line of survival and killings. The series success is based on one main factor in my humble view ---- What would we do if faced with this situation? Always comes up with believable behaviour and action (Michonne's sword play excepted!) and incredible special effects and make up that combine to make this exemplary television.A homage to Romero's 'Dead' classics, a twist of Danny Boyle's '28 Days...', certainly nothing of the twee Hammer films. 'The Walking Dead' has brought back the fear of the undead into the genre. Relentless impossible odds to fight against and incredible vile characterizations of ordinary people who have become empowered by the pandemic of the zombie plague.Even my wife has begun to enjoy the series probably because she identifies with the way the WD shuffle around aimlessly while I work or cook. I'm very happy with that as there aren't the usual guffaws and hoots aimed at the tv when I'm watching something that I'm enjoying ---- and discussions after each evening's viewing, and several offers to bag some of my clothes and send them to the production company for the WD to wear --- women do not understand the comfort felt by an old sweat shirt or jacket that has moulded into your shape over the years (though I'm a bit of a clothes horse even though I say it myself. Now calm down dear).Importantly English subtitles for the hearing impaired (background noises clearly come up in text and are important in context of each episode). 16 episodes of 40 minute duration on 4 discs. A 5th disc with impressive bonus features. As usual with most dvd's of recent tv series picture and sound quality are magnificent, though you need subtitles to understand Daryl's mutterings.

Great if you like Zombies getting mashed .
To be totally honest I am really not into this series at all. Don,t get me wrong if you like this sort of genre brilliant but not for me. There just comes a time when I just got totally bored with watching zombies getting mashed . I gave 5 stars because if you are into it then great I just don,t want to appear biased because I can,t get into it. Great service from seller . Many thanks John.

Hard to Describe my love in words.
This TV show, and season 4 in particular is amazing. I started watching when season 1 came out, and because i had read the graphic novel i thought that it wouldn't be good although i was taken back in surprise with the amazing caricatures chosen by the creator. They all didn't match the book, but it didn't matter because the way the characters were depicted made up for the lack in complete loyalty (which I don't mind personally- i view them as two separate things, just like the walking dead telltale game). What struck me the most With this series as it progresses through to season 4 is the development of the characters. It is amazing, not just looking back on the persona of each character, but also their appearance and reaction to different situations. Overall, this is an amazing series and it had me on the edge of my seat at least 20 times/ 10/10

Worth six stars
There's not much more I can add that hasn't already been said in the other 5 star reviews. I will say however, that this episode ('The Grove') contains probably the most moving, dramatic and sad scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Without spoiling it for others, all I can say is 'keep looking at the flowers Lizzie'. The young actress who played the part of poor, confused Lizzie is obviously destined as a star of the future. If you watch nothing else then just watch the last 20 mins or so of this episode and be prepared to be moved to tears !

This season probably is the most explosive and exciting yet.The series picks up a short while after where series 3 left off, with the group having swelled and prospered in the Prison. The series operates in what is becoming a familiar format, build to an exciting mid-season finale and then slowing down again before picking up for the actually season climax. The pacing of this season is spot on with a great deal of emotion and some nice development of secondary characters.I guarantee when you watch the Season 4 finale you will not be able to stop yourself watching the first episode of season 5 straight away!

Good series and worth watching if you have enjoyed the last 3, although the comic book aspect gets in the way a little bit. I have searched Amazon for contact access in order to comment that knowing whether the DVD has subtitles is not always mentioned. For anyone with hearing loss or difficulty this is a biggie. Helpfully this did include subtitle info but series 5 has no indication therefore I will not buy before I know. If Amazon would make this a standard fact available it would be a first class seller. Contact access might be useful too.
