J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Plus 10 Piece Block Set, Black

I bought this set as a gift for my Mom who has been using the same bargain knives for nearly 10 years. She was impressed at the difference! I use a similar set made by Henckels and even after a couple years of (light) use they are still razor sharp.Would recommend these knives to anyone looking for quality.

Really liked the build and design of it. Packaging was excellent.

Lower quality knives than i expected from this brand. The wood block has extra spaces. I can fill those with other knives. Serviceable.

These were a gift and they live them. They have said are sharpest knives ever gotten from a block set and work great.

I wanted to love these knives. I really REALLY did. But I couldn't and will be returning them.I have spent a great deal of time trying to understand the quality behind the different brand names that were within my price range - Wusthof, Calphalon, Henckels, etc. I cook daily from scratch and have been getting by (miserably) with the cheapo seats you pick up from the local all-in-one stores. So when I saw these on a lightening deal, I snatched them up and waited impatiently for them to arrive so I could chop tomatoes without smashing them to a pulp.Pros:Nice little set with scissors and steak knivesComes with a block for easy storageOK in terms of sharpness but not really any different than a $20 set from big lots - although I will assume these hold up betterGerman stainless steelThey look niceFull tang bladeCons:LIGHT - these are incredibly light which is a con for me as I prefer heavier feeling knivesThe handles feel cheaply made as if they are made from flimsy plastic (maybe they are, I don't know)Not as sharp as I expected them to be. They struggled to cleanly chop the crunchy bits of romaine heartsLike other people have mentioned, the product is made in China and is supposedly German steel. I have to take their word for it. With the Henckels name and price tag, I expected more. I'm not sure if I missed the "International" part somewhere but I didn't see it anywhere on the page as I probably wouldn't have ordered them had I known it was not the German Henckels but the "International" division of the company which sells a more "economical" product.Really bummed but I'll continue my hunt for the great knife set!

Been throwing these knives into the dishwasher for 2 months and its is still very sharp!
