Pleasantly Surprised
I was hesitant to buy a renewed vacuum, but for the price, I thought I’d try it because I’ve always heard good things about Shark. The negative reviews really gave me pause. Honestly, I can’t disagree with those bad reviews more. I’ve never written a review before. Usually, people who are happy with a product rarely bother to write one, just like I have always been, but I feel that this vacuum has really gotten an unfounded bad reputation. To be fair, maybe I was just lucky to get a good one, but it looked absolutely new coming out of the box and works just as well - no broken parts, bad suction power, etc. I have 2 dogs and a cat, all indoors. This little vac picks up all the hair in one swipe. It works equally as well on hard floors as it does on carpet. It is true, however, that it’s a pain that it doesn’t stand on its own, but otherwise I’m very happy that I bought it and for the price, it just can’t be beat. In my experience, it’s a great vacuum, HIGHLY recommend!

A good purchase
This is the second shark vac for my house the other I had for 10 years and it lived up to its standards. I love this vacuum it has great suction especially for pet hair. 1 dog medium corse hair and 2 cats. It works good on low profile area rugs and hardwood floors. Especially for cat litter. I have the attachments from other shark vac that I can use with this one which is a plus for me. It doesn’t stand up alone. I just put near something that it will stay up. No bags is a must for me. It has a long cord enough for my condo. It’s not loud. Maneuvers under bed and furniture. Has bright lights. Easy to use. Not heavy to lift. I love this vacuum.

It's OK but there is no way to put it down for a few seconds
This stick vac is OK but not great. Like all the current stick vacs, they are top heavy. Therefore, there is no easy way to set it down for a few seconds to attend to another task. I find it surprising that it is sold without the wall hook. BTW one can be found on Amazon - but at $14 for a piece of plastic? The width of the floor brush is much smaler than I imagined it would be. Suction power is adequate but not great. We have a dog and I am always chasing fur bunnies. I have to get the floor brush within 2-3 inches for it to get sucked under and into the vac. A regular vac can get them 8-10 inches away. But it does an OK job. The LED lights look cute and add a bit of value. The self cleaning brush works great on dog fur so far. It is quieter than a "full-size" vac and easier to move around minus the fact you can't set it down easily to move a chair or a table. The cup opens easily and the debris dumps easily into the trash can. The 25-foot cord is adequate. I prefer this over a battery-operated vac. it has a fairly standard Shark filter system - a foam filter and a flat cloth post filter. Both are washable, easy to access. Make sure to clean them otherwise the suction power will be severely impacted. There are two cleaning modes - one for bare floors which operates only the soft brush and the low-pile carpet mode that kicks in the second bristle brush. It does an adequate job when used on the carpeting we have directly inside from our doors but I think that is just surface dirt. I think I'm going to have to use the full-size vac on them occasionally. Shark continues to push the poorly designed edge cleaner-brush attachment. It does fit securely. I ordered a small brush from eBay for just $9. I purchased this as a refurbished unit. It appears these were available from multiple online merchants for the same price. Did people really hate these vacs that much? But I purchased mine from Amazon because the 2-year add-on insurance plan was "dirt" cheap!

No More Cleaning the Roller
Being somewhat a clean-freak I am impressed by these vacuums! I bought this self-cleaning brushroll for my mom. It was a bit too heavy for her to push around so I tried it. I love the fact that I no longer need to clean the roller, it's automatic. It's light weight for me. So I decided to keep it! It sits next to my old Shark duo which I still use and love (is that hoarding???).

Broken
Love shark rocket vaccuums! this is my third one and an upgrade from the old models at what i thought was a great price. First one came broken, the cover was cracked and the brushroll fell out. Amazon let me return it and send me a 2nd. I have a 600 sq ft house and i had it for 5 months, i have used it for a grand total of less than 5 hours of mostly vacumming hard floors. Loved it when it worked but then the cover wouldnt go back on after cleaning. Too late to send back to Amazon and Shark wouldnt fix it either. So that was just a big waste of money. Won't buy a third from here since i'd be surprised if im the only one who's had trouble with the cover on two different ones. Previously Shark has honored their warranty for me with products ive bought from a real store but this customer service agent was telling me its not a covered repair somehow so idk if that would even help. Love the idea of the anti-hair wrap thing but it does me no good if the machine wont go back together. I think i still have my old rocket in the garage which last i checked still works fine after years and years. Guess ive learned not to buy refurbished vacuums from Amazon.

Don't hesitate
I live in a studio apt and have a 7x10 area rug that i was tired of sweeping with a broom. I didn't want to spend $200 on a vacuum. Then I found this one. I was hesitant with it being reconditioned, but most of the reviews looked positive. I purchased it with the warranty. It arrived in the Shark box looking perfectly new and unused. The brushes were clean and new. The vacuum was clean, with everything included. I snapped the 3 pieces together and started it up. I couldn't believe all of the dust and junk that came out of that rug. It works great on bare floors as well. The cord is nice and long and it's easy to empty, just make sure you empty it over the trash can. It reminds me a little of a self-propelled lawnmower. It has some pull to it and the head pivots to move around things. I know people complained that it won't stand up on it's own, I store mine under my bed. Another option might be to remove the handheld and store it that way. I would definitely buy this again without hesitation.
