Very poor craftman ship..
Never even got to use it! It broke as soon as it was put together, i think the layout is good, but the design is really bad! My husband is a wood worker, he is building one like this, only it will work :) this one will go in the trash! To bad, it was the right size for me..

Smart choice
I am a long time cross-stitcher, and I've always just used embroidery hoops for my work. Recently I started suffering some hand pain from holding my little hoop, so we decided to spring for this frame. I had always felt this was a silly cost and had never been willing to splurge, but what a mistake that was! This little device is a hand saver! This item was much more affordable than the same product on the stitchery.com and I received it just a couple of days after ordering. At the lowest setting it fits right over my legs so the work is in my lap, and at the highest setting it actually fits right under the cushion of my couch with the work still at the right height. It is simple to assemble and easy to adjust. The only problem I've had with it is that even though I tighten the wingnuts on the frame to hold the dowels tightly they still sometimes slip out if I move it too much or if I flip the frame over to anchor the floss. The frame is for functionality, so if you're looking for a fancy display frame or conversation piece this isn't it. But if you're looking for a practical, adjustable frame to hold your project while you work it's perfect.

Works well...
And easy to put together. The reviewers who say it 'broke while putting together'or broke while using, must have an iron grip or was man handling the thing. Some people are rough with their things and wonder why everything they have is broken. It's not made out of the hardest wood, so don't over tighten all off the knobs! Like I said, it works well if you take the time to figure it out. Some people are just impatient and give up easily blaming the product.

they need better quality control
sanding is poor and unbalanced splinters took 2 hrs to prep frame for use

I returned it
Could not get it to lay with out weak points. When doing cross stitch you need your adda to lay flat and be stiff.I tried working with it with the weak spots and its very ackward to work with. Mayne my arms are too short lol

This stand is saving my hands!
I was unsure when I read some reviews but this is exactly what I needed! I have been doing a lot of cross stitch during this pandemic and my left hand gets achy from holding the frame. Now I can mount it in this frame, slip it under my legs wherever I am sitting. To those that said it doesn't hold the fabric taut, I just use masking tape along the edge to keep it in place. It's very sturdy...no need for additional adjustments.

Disappointed!
This frame is a good idea, in theory. In reality, you will spend a fair portion of your time retightening the frame that holds your fabric. I've used mine for about a month and I can no longer get it tight enough to hold onto the split dowel tight enough to secure it in place. After further reading, these wooden frames are widely considered "starter frames" for people to see how the like using a hands-free frame, without having to immediately purchase a more expensive floor stand frame. I definitely would not recommend this frame for anyone who expected it to be a lasting investment.

Tension is terrible
I bought this mostly for beading purposes. My biggest complaint is that I havent been able to get the tension right leaving it very lose on the frame. I left it on and used it only because I fiddled around with it for 30 min and didnt feel like taking it off and putting it back on the other frame again at that point. I would definitely not recommend for cross stitching larger pieces as I mentioned because of the tension issue. Worked ok, but just ok, for beading purposes. I would not recommend this product overall.
