Fantastic utility knife! Highly recommend!
Zelite does it again. Utility knives are one of my most used knives around the kitchen. Whether it's slicing an apple or deboning chicken, this works amazingly well. Like all of the Zelite knives I own, this is incredibly sharp. When you go to cut a carrot, without really any effort, it just *grips* the carrot. No chance of it rolling away from under the knife as you start to press down. It's so impressive! The feel of the handle in your hand is really nice as well - it's very very comfortable and ergonomic. So as you work with the knife, it doesn't ever feel awkward, and gives you very precise control. The size is exactly right for a utility knife. It's bigger than a paring knife (but can be used as a paring knife), but not so big as a full size chef knife or Santoku, and so it gives you finer control. This is an abosolutely fantastic entry-level blade. Far superior to other utility knives that I've had, but still at a reasonable price! If you are looking for a basic set of kitchen knives to replace others you have, are looking to upgrade, or just love great knives, this is a fantastic place to start! Next to a solid chef knife (Zelite has an array of amazing chef knives at various price points), a utility knife like this may just be one of the most important to have on hand in the kitchen. If you are looking for a great knife, you won't be disappointed when you buy this one!

First Class Service and a Top-Notch Utility Knife
I own Zelite's 6 inch Japanese Steel knife and it is a wonderful kitchen tool - sharp, easy to handle, with a terrific handle and great balance. When I first got it, I was almost afraid to use it - it is so beautiful. But I quickly learned it not just a "drawer queen" and regular use does not mar its beauty. I was looking for a smaller knife when I saw this 5 inch German Steel knife. Its very attractive price and my wonderful buying experience with Zelite made the purchase a "no-brainer." It comes with a great edge and, like the 6 inch knife, has great balance. This knife is all business. I own Global and Shun knives, as well, and my niece, a professional chef, taught me how to keep them honed to a sharp edge. The Zelites are easy to sharpen and a pleasure to use. I hope to own the full line as time goes by. I would just add that Zelite's followup is great and a tip of the proverbial cap to Sam, their Customer Service Manager. I wish every company was as interested in their customers' thoughts and suggestions. Highly recommended.

Amazing Quality, Amazingly Sharp Edge, Amazing Value
I had intended to purchase a "Name Brand" knife. I am a chef with decades of experience and I wanted a quality product with a recognizable name for my home kitchen. However, after reading some reviews about this knife I decided to give this knife a try. All I can say is WOW! it is an incredible kitchen knife. I have knives that cost significantly more that cannot begin to compare to this knife. I just received it and, after I washed it, I decided to test it by slicing an onion. This knife performed brilliantly. I will use it exclusively for slicing onions and tomatoes and general prep work. After I do, I'll leave another review. At this point I can say ~ if you're looking for a quality knife for general kitchen use, do not hesitate to try this excellent knife . . . and such a value.

No disappointments here
After purchasing the Zelite Comfort-Pro 8" Chef knife and using it a couple of weeks, I just had to get the Utility Knife. The 5" Utility knife arrived in the well made Zelite closed cell foam lined box designed to protect the knife. The fit and finish of the knife is perfect, the handle fits the hand nicely and the blade is shaving-sharp. I have numerous hunting and tactical knives and take pride in my blade sharpening skills. After receiving a new knife, I usually sharpen it to my liking. I can find no room for improvement on this one. It seems every kitchen has a drawer full of knives that have dull blades which will not stay sharp and are a struggle (as well as dangerous) to use. What a pleasure it is to use a well made knife in the kitchen. I've already thrown out 3 knives and the bread knife is next. Get ya one!

Nearly the perfect desert island knife. Drawbacks: heavy handle, off balance
This knife is beautifully designed and really sharp and of great quality metal. After weeks of research, online and in real stores, I thought this product ends my quest for the perfect knife in this life. But "perfect" is relative to one's needs. Here are my needs: for the past few years I had to move a lot and this made me think a lot about oprtimizing and decluttering my luggage, my possessions, my acquaintances (and time spent with people), and eventually my life. Imagine you had to pack your whole life in one suitcase. What shoes, clothes, tools, books, etc would you take with you on the hypothetical desert island? Which friends would you share this experience with? The answers can very illuminating. I certainly learned a lot about myself. I learned that I have been too generous with my time, space, money, mindlessly wasting it on things and people that I do not need, while I had the illusion of myself being a non-consumerist! I learned that basically everyone who lives in a home for more than a year (or a few days really) turns into a pathological hoarder, and that we can do without MOST stuff. Why then, do we accumulate it? I think the answer is compromise: we buy something for some purpose, it's kind of ok, till it comes short for some job and we get a new thing, it's kind of ok, then we see something on sale and we think - ok, I don't REALLY need this but it's a bargain, etc. So this compromise, facilitated by sedentary life, turns our homes and life into pyramids of unnecessary things and deeds, piling up into an illusion of permanence just as the real pyramids once served. Compromise is the slow poison that dulls our life: little, seemingly harmless and insignificant choices accumulate into a life of dissatisfaction and in some cases - even depression. And the poison is so slow that we can only realize its action from the perspective of looking years back. Today, we kill an evening at some party or in a company that is kind of meh. We date a person, or take a job that is kind of ok due to lack of anything better at hand. This lasts a year. Or five. And in ten years, when it's long over, we turn back and wonder: how could I waste years with this person/job etc? If only we asked ourselves: is this how I'd want to spend my evening if it were my last evening in this town? Is this the person I'd like to spend it with? Would I call again this person when we are not co-workers anymore?... I think we would be happier. Personally, I am not 100% there yet, but I am trying to switch my life from autopilot mode to conscious choices. And in this context even compromise is ok as long as it is acknowledged, accepted, and come to terms with. Ok, back to knifes. So my concept is now quality and functionality over quantity. Universality over specialization. Careful, informed, and researched choice over compromise. Spoon over fork, bowl over plate, saucepan with lid over... well, saucepan is over anything really. And utility or paring knife over chef/santoku/gyoku and what not. My life knife goal is to own one - yes, ONE - knife that I will use REALLY for everything in the kitchen and that will last likely more than I will, without me having to sell a kidney to make it mine. A chef knife can do most work, but not those smaller scale tasks. 6" was my absolute max, 5" optimal. This Zelite seemed like the perfect fit. 5", utility but not too narrow - nearly a [baby] chef/long paring hybrid. It is beautifully sharp. But the moment I took it out of its fancy box, I was shocked and I knew this is not my knife. The handle is very heavy and this throws off the balance. It is also unnecessarily big, nearly disproportionate. There are 6" with smaller-scale handles out there. I cooked with it for two days wondering to compromise or not - because everything else about it really is nearly perfect. I wanted to like this so much, to settle down with it. But my search for the perfect knife is not over. Maybe it's someone else's desert island knife, or just one more knife in their hoarding collection. And that's ok too. Just not for me.

The best of many knives!
I purchased the 5 inch Utility several months ago along with the 6 inch Utility model. I also purchased several other brands, (Mercer, Tuo, TooSharp). All of the knives I purchased are good knives, and I have no issues with any of them, but the Zelite brand stands above the others. These are my favorite knives, having a great balance, and really feeling great in the hand. ( I have large hands). Even though I use these the most, they still hold an edge far longer than any other knife I own. I think the ergonomics has a lot to do with it. If I ever need another knife, Zelite will be the first brand I go to.

This knife will not disappoint!!
I am no Master Chef but I love to cook. If you love cooking then you know how essential it is to have the right tools. I own several knives from Bob Kramer's stainless Damascus to Miyabi. I typically purchase my knives at Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table because I like to feel the knife in my hand. The balance, design and grip are important to me. However, I needed an additional knife quickly and decided to purchase this one online. May I say, I am thrilled with my decision. The knife came in beautiful packing but the best surprise was how well balanced this knife was. That will be a big advantage over competitors because it makes any cutting action easier and requires less effort!!! Therefore, less strain on the arm! I love the design too. Very low maintenance with the high carbon stainless steel, unbelievably sharp, no rivets in the handle to trap food or bacteria, which makes it very easy to clean. Plus a great price point. What more could you ask for? If you are looking for a gift or to add another knife to your collection, this won't disappoint.

Good but not great. Also might be dangerous.
Update: having thrown the box I could not return it and I got stuck with it, so I'm using as utility/box opener knife. My additional concern has been that being that unnecessarily heavy and pointy if I leave it on the countertop and making it fall inadvertently, it might seriously be dangerous and penetrate on a foot or guillotine a finger (yes I'm barefoot at home). Good knife overall, but not great, the reviews are a bit over inflated. It didn't arrive very sharp, which is not a problem with me because I can sharpen knives with a sand belt. The steel is a regular soft German style steel which does not hold the edge for long. The handle is way too heavy, the full knife is a whole piece of steel, that makes it a bit uncomfortable and impractical because there is no need for a small knife to have such weight. Weight is only useful in a rocking motion for classic German chef knives, 8inch or more. The positive are the ergonomics which are pretty good, I like the shape, even if the big weight in the handle doesn't make it as fast and effective as it could. After buying this I found on a web site a wonderful knife in CPS-XHL, which is one of the best steel existing, for 70$. That one cuts everything like butter and very fast, being also light. Recommendation for Zelite is to keep the shape and rethink the handle, lowering a bit the price, which should be around 20$ (you find good knives with the same steel as the Zelite Infinity for 20$ on Amazon).

coupe vraiment bien

Top quality all rounder
The Zelite Infinity Utility Knife arrived with the recently reviewed Santoku knife exactly like the seller said it would on the date specified on purchase. Again the Uber cool and quality box that the knife is packaged in is the first thing you notice. This gives a great first impression and once you get the knife in your hand you realise that no attention to detail has been spared to ensure that there is extremely high quality throughout the product. The utility knife itself feels very comfortable in the hand and though small has a very good weight distribution and whilst only using it for a short time the grip is very comfortable for my smallish hands. My 14 year old daughter used it whilst chopping up the food for her Guinea pig and she found it extremely easy to use. Our previous knives would cause her problems with cutting through the carrots that the Guineas love. Although smaller than the Sanoku, the blade is equally sharp again this is exactly what you would expect in a high end knife, and the Zelite Utility knife certainly doesn't disappoint, this knife also has fantastic edge retention and whilst the knife is brand new you get the impression that due to the quality the sharpness will last a long time. As well as being used to prepare the Guinea pig food in its first outing it cut through the smaller items of food such a leek, carrot, mushrooms effortlessly. I can see this knife being the most frequently used in our household. Overall a fantastic addition to my kitchen and I can't recommend this product highly enough. Well done Zelite and producing a high quality and Uber cool product and what a range this company seem to be providing.
