PRS Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar with Gig Bag, Vintage Sunburst

This is the first time I have purchased a guitar without actually touching and playing it first. But, times being what they are, I took a chance. I chose Amazon, because I knew of the no-hassle return. But I was totally shocked and surprised by this guitar. It arrived in only 2 days and was immaculate. It was packed in the gig bag within the box, with a few pieces of extra padding for the head stock and switch. The finish was flawless, not one blemish or even any buffing marks. Color was exactly like the picture. Fret work was also perfect, no rough edges or high (or low) spots. Even the setup was nearly spot on. Tuning machines turn a little easier than I'm used to, but this is neither good nor bad, just an observation. The guitar stays in tune, that's what matters. My only quibble is the pickups. The clean tones range from warm to chimey, very nice. But I have not yet been able to dial in an overdrive tone that I'm happy. Not bad, but lacking character. But, this is just me, YMMV. This is a high quality instrument for a great price. I am totally satisfied and happy I got it. Update 7/1/2020. These cheesy looking back covers for the vibrato and electronics started bugging me. They are functionally fine, but just look too cheap on such a beautiful instrument. So, I hit them with some clear lacquer and it looks so much better. I know, just a detail, and only I see it, but I think it was worth doing.

Not the cork sniffers version but a very well made guitar. Very easy to play with great tone. I can’t see paying 3 g for something just to mess around with so this fit the bill.

Great guitar for a Korean made. Rivals american made guitars in quality and details. The pickups are clear not muddy, the flamed top is very nice. The tuners are adequate and the bridge is solid.

Where do I start? The 5 star reviews and the video demo got me to make this purchase.One extra star for Amazon easy return policy, but i really wanted to keep this guitar, unfortunately, it's going back.First, the color does not match the photos. The color description "Sunburst" is accurate to what i received, but the photos are way off, including the pick up switch (as indicated in another 2 star review) is not the same in the photo. Now, the color was not a deal breaker, it's just the beginning of "something is amiss..."Second, I agree with another reviewer, put decent strings on this. I could not keep these 'stock' strings in tune! I have been playing this guitar a lot - to loosen them up - but still out of tune even a week later. Esp. when i put a capo on - the whole guitar just did not sound good at all.Third, it's a smaller guitar - i know it says it in the description, but just to be clear - it's smaller than a standard.Overall, it just feels and plays like a $300 guitar for $800+. Maybe it was just me being wishful/hopeful it plays like a $1000 guitar. ? Thank you Amazon for making it easy to return it.

FYI, if choosing the whale blue color, the newer models have pearl color pickup rings, and the pickups are black & pearl, and not all black as shown in the amazon item picture. Also, the switch and one of the knobs are in different locations from what is shown in picture, and the guitar I received was more of a teal green color, and not whale blue. I ended up ordering the exact same guitar from a different company and when comparing them side by side the whale blue colors were definitely different(see pic). Long story short I returned the one from Amazon because of the teal green color.

I was disappointed by the looks of the guitar compared to the pictures on Amazon for my taste, not the finish or craftsmanship my singer liked it so did my girlfriend, I almost kept it, it plays very easily and sounds really nice, but the colors not even close as in the pictures. I got the vintage sunburst it looked more like cherry sunburst or something.

Sorry PRS guitars, your product looked amazing, unfortunately sent color does not correspond with sales picture. Thank Amazon fot the awfaul review.

Believe it or not I accidently clicked on the BUY option for this axe while making a few other purchases.(I had it in my cart and was considering buying it for months)Well, it came and I decided to give it a try as I could send it back anyway.Bottom line: It aint going back. Plays very well and for a "lower end" model, its a real steal!
