The Complete Shamanic Princess

I am not going to waste everyone's time reviewing the anime itself. There are other places where you should go for that.Instead, I am going to describe what this particular DVD release is like. It is absolutely terrible. The dub is included, and the sub works. The sound is great, and the colours are correct.HOWEVER, THE PICTURE IS SO INTERLACED IT HURTS TO LOOK.Apparently, somewhere down the line, some idiot interlaced the footage twice, leaving non-removable horizontal artifacts on pretty much every frame.GOOD NEWS is, from what I gathered, at least one proper DVD release of this OVA does exists. This is not it, sadly.

This series is 6 episodes, the story plays backwards. It jumps you into the action, into the story. The characters are all connected and you learn how, and their personal battles with each other, but how the band together to reach a common goal is the real story. Along the way they fight each other each step, trying to destroy each other. The last two episodes are spent showing you how the story came to be. Well done series, unexpected, witty, fun, and action packed, strong female leads. I recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

love it! I watched this anime when I was in high school, and I felt in love with it.

Fast shipping, awesome anime!

I didn't care for this OVA, so I didn't want to 1-star rate it soley on the fact I disliked it. The dubbing is horrible, and the story line and transitioning makes no sense in the slightest. I still have no clue what even happened after watching this twice. This is definitely something I would say skip the buy to.

Shamanic Princess is a short OVA series from the late nineties that was originally released here under Central Park Media's "U.S.Manga" label back in the year 2000. It has now been license rescued and will be re-released by Media Blasters.It consists of six OVA's of 30 minutes each. Each of which are divided into two parts. (Hence the 12 episode rating though in reality it's 6.) The first four OVA's make up the main storyline of a Shamanic Priestess by the name of Tiara who with her warrior partner must retrieve a magical talisman. Schoolgirl by day, warrior by night. It is in essence, a sword and sorcery type epic but set in our world. What makes this OVA series special is the animation and backdrops. This is one super gorgeous animation!If you have ever seen Clamp works like Rayearth or X; then you will know what to expect. Dramatic silhouettes on rooftops with flowing robes and moonlit backlighting. That sort of thing. Almost all of the fight scenes here could easily make a perfect fantasy cover plate.As for the storyline itself, I'm a little more ambivalent. It's okay, but a bit too angsty and scattered for me; but lordy it sure looks great! This is one OVA series that I suspect will greatly appeal to female fantasy viewers while having just enough action to keep their male counterparts satisfied. As for the remaining two OVA's; they are actually prequels made after the main four part series and show how she acquired her partner. They're okay, but not as important or good looking as the main series itself.Highly recommended for those into fantasy along the likes of Magic Knight Rayearth, X or Tsubasa Chronicles. Four stars for the main feature, three for the prequels.J. A.

『シャーマニックプリンセス』の北米版DVDは2種類…販売元が2つ…あって、こちらは“Anime Works”ブランドのもの。（もう1つは“Us Manga Corps”ブランド）もちろんどちらのブランドの版でも内容に変わりは無いですが、オマケのいわゆる“特典映像”などが若干違います。　当方は、この“Anime Works”ブランドのものはいわゆる“旧版”で所持していますが、特典映像は、ノンテロップOP＆ED、そして日本版のTVスポットCM集くらいでした。（この現在版はどうなのか・・・）　主人公：ティアラの声は、日本語版では、『あえて』かわいらしい声の声優さんではない…フツーにアニメのメインヒロインの声をやるような声優さんではない…をキャスティングしていますが、この英語版では、『さらにあえて』かわいらしい声の声優さん＝フツーにアニメのメインヒロインの声をやるような声優さんをキャスティングしています。（『To　Heart』のマルチの声とかをアテてる声優さん）　そのかわいらしい声で、例のレナとのやり取りでだんだんブチ切れて行ってヒステリック（苦）になる様が、日本語版より2倍乗っけくらいの迫力になっていて、意外な部分（笑）で見所が増えてます。　また、日本とアメリカの演出方針？の違いからか、日本語版とはセリフを言うキャラが違っていたり、（2話で、「この学校にはロクな男子が居ない」というセリフを言うのは日本語版ではミミだが、英語版ではティアラのセリフ）日本語版ではセリフが入ってない部分にもセリフ？が入ってたりします、（1話で、レナがティアラを縛り上げて『ドヤ顔で』説教を垂れるシーンでは、そのレナの説教のバックにティアラの「ああ～ん」という呻き声が延々と入ってます）そういった“違い”を見つけて楽しむのも良いんじゃないでしょうか、何より、日本語版より安価ですしね！・・・それにしても、ジャケット上部の『CLAMPファン必携！』って．．．CLAMPさんあんまり関係ないし！！（笑・石田敦子さん繋がりでまったく無関係ではないけども）
