Sierra International Sierra 18-7919 Replacement for Mercury 35-809097/Yamaha MAR-24563-00-00/Racor S3213 Fuel Filters

So my boating season was very negatively affected this year by this filter, hopefully my engine isn't trashed. While pulling the boat at the end of the season, the bowl broke off, which was my first indication that the filter was the problem and not something else.Lots of negative reviews regarding the filter. Negative reviews for similar ones, however found some interesting commentary in this filter with different threads for a Racor. I found a new 2006 filter in the back of my parts box -- exact same thing. Purchased a new bowl. The threads look way different, not because they were different but because my current bowl had degraded. I believe the degradation is from Ethanol. The new bowl is nice and snug and will work great. If this filter doesn't fit your bowl, and your bowl is several years old, you need a new bowl.

I've used this product on my bass boat for many years. I do use non ethanol fuel but there still always the chance of contaminents and water in the tanks that I pimp the fuel from. This filter has a bowl that attaches to the bottom of it and can be drained occassionally, I have had water and gunk collect in this area and the drain will let you remove these without removing too much fuel. When I have had my outboard service, I'm told that the carburators look as if the filter is doing a dood job.

it's essential to use one of these on my pontoon boat w/ all the ethanol fuel. it makes getting water out simple. part matched up and fit well.

Hazardous/defective/junk! As others have posted, the fuel bowl I attempted to re-use from the old Sierra filter (same model #) I was replacing pops off either randomly or when almost tight on this new filter, spilling about 2 cups of gas. Nothing wrong at all with the old clear bowl, tightened up just fine on the old filter. Bowl popped off 3 times while installing. Thank God I discovered this before actually going boating. At best would have to deal with this on the water, at worst the boat would burn and sink. Plastic threads for the fuel bowl - really? Class-action in the making, IMO. AVOID!
